From 27 to 28 July, some 300 representatives from observers and 20 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) attended the First Advance Visit in Da Nang in preparation for the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW), which will take place in the city from 6 to 11 November this year.
Briefing on preparation of Viet Nam and Da Nang for the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week
The visit was held by Viet Nam, the host of the APEC Year 2017, as per the guidelines for hosting APEC meetings. Also attendance were representatives of the National Secretariat and Sub-Committees of the APEC 2017 National Committee as well as around 200 Vietnamese liaison officers.
After Viet Nam presented its host’s preparations for AELW, delegates visited venues chosen for different AELW events, the International Media Center and designated hotels for APEC delegates in Da Nang, and paid a visit to Hoi An City of Quang Nam Province.
Representatives of member economies and observers appreciated the early and thorough preparation of the host and the government of Da Nang, and promised to work closely with Viet Nam to prepare for the upcoming AELW.
Prior to the Advance Visit, over 600 Vietnamese liaison officers and volunteers attended training sessions, where they learned about APEC, APEC Viet Nam 2017 as well as skills and experiences needed for the AELW.
The AELW is the most important event of APEC Viet Nam 2017, and will be held from 6 to11 November 2017 in Da Nang. There will be around 10,000 international and domestic delegates and media attending different events of the AELW.
The Second Advance Visit will be held in October later this year.
