Da Nang People’s Committee recently announced the plan to organise a series of activities throughout the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (8 August, 1967 - 2017).

The activities aim to promote the development process of the ASEAN over the past 50 years, thus raising the public awareness of opportunities that the association can bring to residents of the member countries, as well as challenges that the member states are together dealing with currently.

They include the East-West Economic Corridor’s (EWEC) International Investment Trade and Tourism Fair – Da Nang 2017 from 11-16 August; a conference on the ASEAN Economic Community and free trade agreements between ASEAN and partners including China, South Korea, Japan, India, Australia – New Zealand; and an ASEAN Tourism Space from 10-14 August at the western end of the Dragon Bridge, opposite the Museum of Cham Sculpture.

The city will also launch a contest on the 50th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN for high school pupils in September and an ASEAN Higher Education Day - IHED Da Nang on 16 September.  In addition, an international conference for young researchers at economic and business administration universities (ICYREB 2017) will be held on 3 November.
