The Da Nang Department of Information and Communications on 13 December held a ceremony to announce Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s decision on recognising the Da Nang Software Park as a centralised information technology (IT) park, the third of its kind after two in Ha Noi and HCM City.

In attendance were Deputy Minister for Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, and Head of the Da Nang Department of Publicity and Training Dang Viet Dung.
It is reported that the 10,000 square-metre park is home to 75 IT businesses and employs nearly 2,400 people in total. The businesses operating in the park are likely to have earned nearly 1,100 billion VND, equivalent to more than 48 million USD, by the end of this year, accounting for approximately 10% of the city’s total IT industry revenue.
Also within the framework of the announcement event, there was a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Da Nang ICT Infrastructure Development Centre, which is responsible for operating and managing the Da Nang Software Park.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong spoke highly of the Centre’s significant achievements over the past years.
For his part, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh stressed underlined the need for the Centre and the newly-recognised centralised IT park to fully tap their internal and external resources to further their development. The city leader added that these units should give even more ideal suggestions to the city authorities in developing more plans to build a smart city, and to develop high-quality human resources for the city’s IT sector in the future years.
