Fireworks Displays to Welcome Lunar New Year 2016The Da Nang People’s Committee recently announced the plan to welcome in the 2016 Lunar New Year with 4 spectacular fireworks displays at midnight on the Lunar New Year’s Eve, which will fall on 8 February 2016. The 15-minute-long displays will each feature 2,000 high-level and 100 low-level fireworks.

Da Nang – Viet Nam Team Wins Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht RaceWendy ‘Wendo’ Tuck, the first female Australian Skipper in the history of the Clipper Race, has clinched first place in the Clipper 70 class of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race (RSHYR). GREAT Britain finished in second place whilst LMAX Exchange came in third.

Russian Navy Ship’s Officers Pay Courtesy Visit to Da Nang People’s Committee3 Russian naval ships comprised of the destroyer Bystry, the oil tanker Boris Butoma and the rescue vessel Altau, carrying about 315 officers and crew members on board, arrived in Tien Sa Port on 6 January at the start of their three-day official visit to the city. On the same day, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, met with the ships’ chief officers commanded by Rear Admiral Yuldashev Aleksandr Yurevich.

1,850 International Cruise Ship Tourists Visit Da NangThe Star Cruises’ SuperStar Virgo cruise ship, carrying 1,850 passengers from Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China left Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port on 7 January. This was the ship’s first visit organised by Saigontourist travel agency to the city in 2016.

The 4,310 nautical mile race from Australia’s Airlie Beach to Viet Nam’s Da Nang took “Da Nang - New Discovery of Asia Race” as its name.

Da Nang Promotes Tourism in SydneyA workshop entitled ‘Da Nang - New Destination of Asia’ took place at the Cruising Yacht Club in Sydney, Australia on 18 December on the occasion of the Da Nang – Viet Nam yacht in the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race moored in Sydney port from 12-26 December. The event was co-hosted by the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia as part of a series of activities to promote Da Nang's tourism in Australia.
