The success of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) 2017 in Da Nang from 6-11 November has turned Viet Nam into a centre of the world’s attention.  Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang, along with the Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the APEC 2017 National Committee, Mr. Pham Binh Minh, recently sent their letters of commendation to the authorities and people of Da Nang.

The APEC Economic Leaders on 11 November adopted the Da Nang Declaration, affirming their determination to take bolder and sustained collective actions to inject new dynamism into APEC cooperation.  President Quang told local and foreign media at the international press conference on the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

On 11 November, the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting – the most important event within the framework of the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week – took place in Da Nang under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Tran Dai Quang, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. 

On 10 November, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull eated a “banh my” breakfast with the Australian-Vietnamese celebrity chef Luke Nguyen before beginning a busy day of meetings for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week.

The dialogue between APEC economic leaders and APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) took place in Da Nang on 10 November, a day ahead of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.  In attendance were  leaders of the 21 APEC member economies and 63 ABAC members representing business leaders across the Asia-Pacific region.  Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang attended and delivered a keynote speech at the event.

Within the framework of the ongoing 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW), on 9 November, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh hosted the inauguration ceremony of the APEC Park in Da Nang.  In attendance were Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Ministers and Heads of Delegations from APEC member economies, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho as well as representatives of Da Nang’s departments and agencies.

On 9 November, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho played host to Mr. Masahiro Moriyasu, the General Director of Mitsui & Co Viet Nam, which belongs to Japan’s Mitsui Group, on the occasion of the Japanese guest's visit to Da Nang to attend the ongoing APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW).

On 9 November, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh co-hosted a press conference at the International Media Centre to announce the results of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting (AMM) within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) in Da Nang.

On 7 November, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho met with Dr. Philipp Rösler, the World Economic Forum (WEF) Managing Director and former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany on the sidelines of the Viet Nam Business Summit which took place at the Ariyana Convention Centre in the city on the same day.
