Following the great success of the Japan-Viet Nam Cultural Exchange Festival in 2014 and 2015, this year’s event was the largest ever with a total of 75 cultural, cuisine and information stands. The festival also attracted more than 60 delegations from Japan, including 25 arts troupes from the cities of Sakai and Mitsuke. In addition to such cultural and arts exchange activities as traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, Ikebana flower arrangement, calligraphy demonstration, there was a studying abroad information seminar, a job fair, a Japanese speaking contest, a Kimono fashion show, cosplay catwalk, and singing competitions for employees of Da Nang-based Japanese businesses and students of the Japanese language.
Also at the event, Japan’s Kushiro and Nagasaki cities introduced their culinary identities, whilst Mitsuke City offered visitors an insight into its kite making art. Some popular tourist attractions in Yokohama, Narita and Sakai cities were also publicised.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the Japan-Viet Nam Cultural Exchange Festival 2016, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee said he hoped that this year’s festival would help to strengthen the bilateral cooperative relationships of the two countries as well as between Da Nang and Japanese localities in particular.
