KEMCO to support Da Nang with energy efficiency
The Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO) has committed to providing financial support and expertise to help Da Nang organise training workshops on urban energy saving policies for representatives of the city’s departments and agencies. These policies have already been applied successfully in the Republic of Korea (RoK). In addition, KEMCO will enable a delegation from Da Nang to visit the RoK to learn about how effective energy policies are prepared there.

This commitment was announced by KEMCO at a round table conference of the Sustainable Urban Energy and Emissions Programme (SUEEP) in the East Asia and Pacific Region, which was organised on 23 October by the World Bank in Singapore.  The event was part of the the Asia Future Energy Forum 2012 (AFEF 2012) which was held in Singapore from 22 to 24 October.  A delegation led by Mr Van Huu Chien, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, attended the event at the invitation of the WB.

The theme of AFEF 2012 was “Powering Sustainable Innovations in Asia”.  It involved discussions about the implementation of sustainable energy solutions in Asia – diversifying the energy mix, the WB’s SUEEF, security and technologies pertinent to investment in nuclear energy, and focused on bioenergy and wind power.

The speakers spoke about the energy potentials of each country, and pointed out the opportunities and new development orientations which mainly focus on such clean and renewable energy sources as wind and solar energy, bioenergy and the solutions for speeding up the transfer of technologies between countries.
