During his first official visit to Da Nang, the new Australian ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr. Hugh Borrowman, expressed his delight at the fine development of the relationship between the city and Australia.

He promised to do his utmost to boost this cooperation, especially in education, and to hold various activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Australia next year.

The Australian diplomat said that so far, 21 Australian businesses have set up in Da Nang, with total annual revenues of about six million USD. He also said that numerous students have been given scholarships funded by his government to study in Australia, including for Master's and Docterates at the Queensland University.

Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Van Huu Chien said he would like Ambassador Borrowman to continue calling on more Australian businesses to invest in projects on the city’s priority list, including high-tech industry and tourism.
