Singaporean Naval Ship Visits Da Nang

On 26 April, the Singapore Navy Ship RSS INTREPID with 150 officers and crew members, arrived in Tien Sa Port to start a four-day official visit to the city.  The welcoming ceremony was held was held at Tien Sa Port in the presence of leading representatives from the Foreign Affairs Department of the Defence Ministry, the Command of Naval Force Zone No 3, the Command of Military Zone No 5, the city’s Border Guard, the Da Nang City Military Headquarters and the Da Nang Foreign Affairs Department.

The event also witnessed the presence of Colonel Tan Chong Kuang Edmund, Singaporean Military Attaché in Viet Nam.

During their 4-day stay in the city, the ship’s officers and crew members will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the Da Nang People’s Committee, the Commands of Naval Force Zone No. 3 and Military Zone No. 5; participate in sports exchange activities with officers and soldiers at Naval Force Zone No. 3.  The two navies will also conduct joint maritime search and rescue exercise.  

The exchange and training between the two navies contribute to the promotion of bilateral defense cooperation, bringing practical benefits to each country and at the same time contributing to solidarity in ASEAN and the area on security, safety and freedom of navigation.
