On 2 June, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho hosted a reception for the Italian Ambassador to Viet Nam Cecilia Piccioni, who is due to finish her term, and the newly-appointed Italian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Dante Brandi on the occasion of the ongoing International Fireworks Festival 2018 in the city with the participation of the Martarello S.R.L. team from Italy.

Chairman Huynh Duc Tho reported that cooperation programmes in trade, culture and education between Da Nang and Italian localities over recent years have gained fruitful results, thereby satisfying the expectations of the two sides.  The city leader also underlined the importance of boosting the relationship between Da Nang and Italian localities and businesses in a more intensive manner, with a focus on certain aspects in which the 2 sides show off their strengths and keen interests such as economy, tourism, culture, and sports. This, thereafter, will help to further deepen the ties between Viet Nam with Italy, and the European Union (EU) as a whole, especially in the aspects of economy, trade and investment.  The host hoped that, in his new position as the Italian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr Dante Brandi would enthusiastically appeal for even more Italian businesses to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang in the coming time.

Italian Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni remarked that the impressive growth of Da Nang over recent years have opened up the favourable opportunity for Italian investors to cooperate with Da Nang in an array of aspects.

The newly-appointed Italian Consul General Dante Brandi said that he would exert every effort to further strengthen cooperative ties between Italy with Da Nang, and Viet Nam in general, in the years ahead.

It is reported that 6 Italian-invested projects are operating in Da Nang, and many Italy-based non-governmental organisations have effectively implemented a large number of social, humanitarian and charitable activities in this central locality.  Da Nang’s exports to Italy in 2017 reached 4 million US$, with such key items as textiles and seafood.
