On the occasion of the 15-year anniversary of establishing the cooperation relationship between Daegu – Da Nang, on October 11th, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Viet Nam, and the City of Daegu cooperated to organize a seminar on Daegu Tourism introduction in Da Nang. The participants included Mr. Nguyen Nho Trung – Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council, Mr. Le Trung Chinh – Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr. Kwon Young Jin – Mayor of Daegu City, Mrs. Bae Ji Sook – Chairwoman of Daegu City Council, Mr. Kim Hoseop – General Director of Korean Culture, Sports and Tourism Service.
The meeting focused on introducing various items of tourism, including destinations, foods, experiences and shopping in Daegu - Gyeongbuk, and seasonal tours. Especially, for the 15-year anniversary of friendship city status Daegu-Da Nang and Daegu Night Tour, there were artists from Daegu Art Team with traditional performances, such as Daegeum solo performance, Janggu dance, and Samulnori as well as performances of the Da Nang Art Team.
Mr. Kwon Youngjin – Mayor of Daegu City said Daegu is the third largest city of Korea, which is embraces the traditional culture together with the modern, each season takes its own beauty. In addition, Daegu has many festivals every year including Chimaek Festival, tourist areas related to food, fashion, beauty, shopping, etc. This is a city with a convenient and safe transport system, suitable to travel to with family or friends. Besides, Gyeongbuk, a neighboring province with Daegu, is a place imprinted with Korean features with many world heritage sites in Gyeongju, Andong and Ullung Island which are enriched with tourism resources. Mr. Kwon Young Jin hopes that in the year of 2020 – the year of tourism for Daegu-Gyeongbuk, many Da Nang tourists will choose Daegu-Gyeongbuk as a destination for their trips.

On behalf of the City’s leaders, Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that in recent years, Korea has been the leading market in the composition of foreign tourists coming to Da Nang City. Direct flights between Da Nang - Daegu of such airlines as Jeju Air, T’Way Air, VieJet Air, and Air Busan made great contributions to speed up economic and tourism cooperation and exchanges of the people between the two cities. In the first eight months of 2019, the number of Korean tourists traveling to Da Nang reached about 1.3 million turns. Defining Korea as a potential market of Viet Nam’s tourism, the City has organized many market promotion activities, attended many programs to introduce Viet Nam’s tourism in Korea, welcomed fam trips for Korean MICE. “We commit that we will support to advertise the destinations of Da Nang and Korea; strengthen the connection of travel enterprises between the two cities for mutual development; and provide best services for tourists.” – emphasized by the Vice Chairman.
In 2018, the number of Vietnamese tourists coming to Korea reached about 460,000, increasing by 39% in comparison with 2017; Korean tourists coming to Viet Nam in 2018 reached approximately 3.4 million, increasing by 42% in comparison with 2017.
