Within the ITEC Day (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) in Da Nang, in the morning on 22nd October, the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations and the Viet Nam – India Friendship Association of Da Nang City (VIFAD), the City’s Dance Artist Association and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Ha Noi (SVCC) cooperated together to organize the Viet Nam – India Dance Exchange Festival. The event had the participation of Mr. Bui Xuan – Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Education Committee of the Municipal Party Committee; G.B. Harisha - Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Ha Noi; the representatives of departments, branches, unions of Da Nang City and the members of the Indian dance delegation.

Mr. Nguyen Nho Khiem – Chairman of VIFAD stated, dance in Da Nang City is strongly developing. In addition to the City’s Dance Artist Association, the Dance Teaching Faculty of the Da Nang Arts and Culture College is obtaining the City’s music delegation, dance teaching centers and clubs.

“The exchange program would be an opportunity for dance artists of the two nations Viet Nam – India to share information and culture in the area of dance, making contributions to tightening the friendship and unity amongst the two nations’ dance artists as well as the people of Viet Nam and India”, as shared by Mr. Nguyen Nho Khiem – Chairman of VIFAD.


The two nations’ artists sharing ideas and professional information on dancing between Viet Nam and India.

Mr. G. B. Harisha, Director of SVCC shared some information about their operations: organized the Indian Film Week, book talk-shows, Hindi Language Day, Meeting on “Viet Nam – India Common Civilization Heritage” in Da Nang City (cooperating with VIFAD), cultural and arts exchange programs, etc. to strengthen the friendship between Viet Nam and India.

As stated by former Chairman of the City’s Dance Artist Association, Vice Chairman of VIFAD, People’s Artist Le Huan, dance in Da Nang City has been formed and developed for 30 years. As of now, the City’s Dance Artist Association has 01 People’s Artist and 06 Merited Artists. In Da Nang, there is not only professional dancing by public dance has also been strongly developed.

People’s Artist Le Huan acknowledged that Indian dance is at one of the pinnacles of the world. In Da Nang, contemporary dance is presently attracting plenty of attention as well. These artists have learned and gained contemporary dancing culture but still retain that of our country. The two parties shared many ideas and professional information on dancing between Viet Nam and India.
