On 12 th Novemeber, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee Huynh Duc Tho hosted a meeting with the delegation of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) led by Mr. Kim Jinoh, Country Director of KOICA Viet Nam.
Mr. Kim Jinoh informed that the trip to Da Nang was for KOICA to figure out the scope of Project “Intergrated Green & Smart Urban Resilience Control Center” (ENSURE Center) and to build a detailed plan for the project.
ENSURE is a cooperation between Daegu (Korea) and Da Nang, aiming for early detection and warning of disaster to help the local agencies in dealing with emergency. The project will be implemented during 2020-2022 with an ODA of about 10 milion USD funded by KOICA.
According the KOICA Viet Nam, among the cities aspiring to become smart cities in Viet Nam, Da Nang has been the first to implement projects related to disaster management. With its technology infrastructure and human resoures, incorporated with the capabilities and experience of KOICA experts, Mr. Kim Jinoh hoped to see a successful project in Da Nang, which would help the city become the pioneer in implementing disaster response based on smart city foundation.
Given that Da Nang is in the central region of Vietnam which regularly suffers from natural disasters, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho highly appreciated KOICA's selection of Da Nang to implement the ENSURE Center project. Along with the city’s focus to build a smart city, the ENSURE Center project is very relevant, bringing practical effects in disaster management not only for Da Nang but also the Central region.
Chairman Huynh Duc Tho affirmed that the People’s Committee would assign functional departments and agencies to closely coordinate with KOICA in project implementation, creating the most favorable conditions for the project to be successfully implemented, as well as achieve the highest efficiency in management and operation when the ENSURE Center comes into operation.
