In the morning of January 12th, Member of the Central Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, the City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia had a meeting with the General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, President of the Japan–Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro.

The General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, President of the Japan-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro visited and worked in Da Nang during the visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said Da Nang was very pleased to welcome the delegation of economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges with more than 1,000 people initiated and led by the General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, President of the Japan - Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Union Nikai Toshihiro to visit Da Nang on the first days of the new year 2020. In 2019, the number of tourists from Japan to Da Nang was 183,572, an increase of nearly 50% compared to 2018. Thanks to this visit, Mr. Nikai and Japanese MPs, officials, and businesses will surely make the growth of Japanese tourists to Da Nang in 2020 even more impressive.

Introducing Da Nang City to Mr. Nikai, the City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said Da Nang is an important strategic city of Viet Nam. Over the past years, the average economic growth rate has reached 7-10%. The convenient transportation system with international airports, deep-sea ports, railways, and roads has created favorable conditions for the development of economic activities, investment, and tourism in the country and the region. Besides, Da Nang also has abundant human resources, meeting the needs of domestic and foreign enterprises.

The City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia would like to express his sincere thanks to Mr. Nikai and the Japanese delegates for choosing Da Nang as a destination to enhance the exchange and cooperation between Viet Nam and Japan.

The City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia emphasized: “Da Nang City will actively and positively cooperate with Japanese partners to promote investment, trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges with Japan.”

The City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia shared that the city also wanted Mr. Nikai, Japanese MPs, and officials to support and promote cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese partners in many fields.


“Da Nang City will actively and positively cooperate with Japanese partners to promote investment, trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges with Japan”, the City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia shared.

On January 5th, 2020, the Vietnamese Government agreed to allow Japan to open a Consular Office in Da Nang. This will strengthen the cooperation relationship between Viet Nam - Japan, especially the provinces of Central Viet Nam with Japanese localities and partners. The City's Party Secretary hoped that Mr. Nikai Toshihiro would work with the Japanese Government to upgrade the Consular Office soon to be the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang.

The City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said that Da Nang City highly appreciated the support of the Japanese Embassy and JICA in the past time for many ODA projects in Da Nang. Most recently, the Government of Japan supported Da Nang to carry out a feasibility study for the Lien Chieu Port project in the form of PPP to call for investment and the Study on Lien Chieu Port urban area planning and port management model. On behalf of the city government and people, the City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia thanked the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and the Government of Japan. At the same time, he expressed his wish that Japan would continue to care and support Da Nang in the process of project implementation.

The General Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Nikai Toshihiro expressed his joy and thanks to the leaders of Da Nang City for facilitation to open the Japanese Consular Office in Da Nang, in addition, for creating favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to invest, regularly organizing Viet Nam-Japan cultural exchange programs, welcoming the coast guard force and the Japanese Coast Guard to visit the city in recent years.

Mr. Nikai Toshihiro said Japan would be willing to support Vietnamese students coming to study in Japan. At the same time, he hoped that more and more Vietnamese students would come to Japan to study.

In this regard, the City's Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said that there were currently more than 1,000 students in Da Nang studying in Japanese language programs in schools and more than 100 students graduating with Japanese Language degrees each year. Secretary Truong Quang Nghia added that in the near future, groups of students would come to Japan to study, in accordance with Mr. Nikai Toshihiro's wishes.

Currently, Da Nang City has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish official relations with 04 Japanese cities (including Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama, and Kisarazu) and has cooperative relationships with over 20 other cities and provinces, including Hokkaido Province; More than 190 Japanese investment projects with a total investment of about 900 million USD are in effect in Da Nang, focusing on the fields of manufacturing, processing, electronics, education, and tourism services; More than 1,000 students in Da Nang study Japanese language programs at schools and more than 100 students graduate with Japanese Language degrees each year; There have been 3 direct flights from Da Nang to Japan via three airports: Narita, Haneda, and Kansai; the Viet Nam - Japan cultural exchange festival held annually in Da Nang is a bridge to promote friendship and cooperation between Da Nang and Japan in recent years.
