Chairman of the City People’s Committee worked with the Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (USPACFLT)

In the afternoon on 5th March, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho - Chairman of the City People’s Committee presided over the meeting with ADM John C. Aquilino, Commander of USPACFLT, together with the business delegation on the occasion of a visit and working of the United States Naval Ship in Da Nang City.


At the meeting, on behalf of the City’s Leaders, warmly welcoming ADM John C. Aquilino and the US Naval Ship paying a visit to Da Nang City, Chairman Huynh Duc Tho gave an overview on the City’s socio-economic development situation during the past time, and stated that Da Nang is currently focusing on attracting investments and developing several fields, including hi-tech, IT, tourism and services, etc. With regard to the cooperation relationship with the US, Chairman Huynh Duc Tho said that there are presently about 60 projects of the US in Da Nang with the total investment capital of approximately 600 million USD; the City also has good cooperation relationships with several localities of the US.

As stated by the Chairman of the City People’s Committee, the visit of the US Naval Ship was to mark the 25th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relationship between Viet Nam and the US, strengthening the two nations’ relationship conforming to the frame of a comprehensive partnership; and, this event also contributed to confirming the capacity of logistics, technology and medical health of Da Nang in particular and Viet Nam in general in the reception of external naval ships, contributing to the advertising of the image of the country and people of Viet Nam to the world.

Giving thanks to the formal reception of the Da Nang City’s leaders and people to the commander and crews of the US Naval Ship, ADM. John C. Aquilino affirmed that the cooperation relationship between the US and Viet Nam is extremely important. This visit expressed the commitment of the US to Viet Nam – a strong, prosperous and independent nation and the Indo-Pacific – a widened and liberal region.
