Ambassador Umedo Kunio makes a great contribution to maintaining and developing the relationship between Viet Nam and Japan

That was the statement of Mr. Truong Quang Nghia, a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City’s Party Committee at the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Viet Nam Umeda Kunio in Da Nang City in the afternoon on 6th March.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Umeda Kunio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Viet Nam thanked the city leaders for warmly welcoming the working visit of Japanese Cultural, Economic and Tourism Delegation comprising of 1,000 delegates led by Mr. Toshihiro Nikai, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan in January 2020. At the same time, he also gave thanks the city leaders for creating favorable conditions to open the Consular Office of Japan in Da Nang.

The Ambassador said, after that event, Japanese people were more interested in Da Nang City. He hoped that there would be many Japanese investors and people to Da Nang for investment and tourism after Covid-19. And the Ambassador also expressed his wish that the city authority would continue to create favorable conditions and support Japanese businesses in Da Nang.

Secretary Truong Quang Nghia expressed his sharing with Ambassador Umeda Kunio to the complicated situation of Covid-19 epidemic in Japan.

Regarding Covid-19 epidemic, Ambassador Umeda Kunio highly appreciated the Government and people of Viet Nam in general, leaders and people of Da Nang City in particular in control and prevention of Covid-19. In the meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Ambassador expressed his wish to learn how to prevent and control Covid-19 in Viet Nam, said by the Ambassador.

Secretary Truong Quang Nghia thanked Ambassador Umeda Kunio for his love to Da Nang. At the same time, he expressed his sharing with Ambassador Umeda Kunio to the complicated situation of Covid-19 epidemic in Japan.

Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said that Ambassador Umeda Kunio made a great contribution to maintaining and developing the growing  Viet Nam – Japan  relationship, creating conditions for people of the two countries to have an opportunity to learn about the culture of the two countries. The Secretary hoped that, in any future position, Ambassador Umeda Kunio would continue to contribute to the development of the relationship between Viet  Nam and Japan in general, and between Da Nang and Japan in particular.

Secretary Truong Quang Nghia agreed with the Embassy’s Culture Department about the time of organizing Viet Nam – Japan Culture Exchange Festival in Da Nang from 16th to 19th July 2020. The Secretary also emphasized that the exchange activities have had a positive impact on the relationship between the two countries, and at the same time, expressed the great concern, responsibility and contribution of Ambassador Umeda Kunio during his working term in Viet Nam.

Ambassador Umeda Kunio expressed his wish that the city would be interested in creating favorable conditions for Japanese experts to be soon allowed to return to Vietnam to work. In this regard, Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said that the majority of Japanese in Da Nang are experts, so they are given priority to return to Vietnam to work under the guidance of the Department of Labor Management (the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs).
