Cooperating with Australia in human resource training to satisfy the demands of a digital economy and international economic integration

On 26th March, at a meeting with Ms. Julianne Cowley – Consul-General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Trung Chinh – Chairman of the City People’s Committee hoped that the two sides would strengthen education and training cooperation between universities and colleges of Australia and higher education institutions in the City, satisfying human resource needs for a digital economy and international economic integration.

Chairman Le Trung Chinh gave thanks the Consulate-General of Australia and Ms. Cowley in particular for their support for Da Nang City, especially with programs on culture, education, and economics, and development aid. The cooperative relationships with the states of Queensland and South Australia, and City of Gold Coast have been maintained with many of these effective programs.

Presently, Da Nang is looking to establish cooperative relationships with Melbourne and the state of Victoria based on their similar strengths and priorities as well as economics, culture and environment; these cities will connect potential partners of Australia who are focused on investment environment and business activities in new markets in which they obtain quality human resources in sciences, IT and communications.

Da Nang City’s government would like to thank the government of Australia together with other nations and partners who assisted Viet Nam in acquiring free vaccine to fight against the pandemic and strongly recover from COVID-19.

The Chairman wished that Consul General Cowley would be a connecting bridge facilitating enterprises to visit Da Nang and seek cooperation and investment opportunities upon the resumption of commercial flights; also, implement social welfare programs, promote the activities of strengthening the positions and capacity of disadvantaged groups in the community, especially women and the disabled.
At the meeting, Ms. Cowley thanked the City’s leader for the formal welcome and wished in the coming time to know more about potential cooperation opportunities, especially in educational development.

Consul-General Cowley confirmed that Australia and Viet Nam have a strategic partnership based on mutual reliability, understanding, and respect. With the importance of the connections of commerce, investment, tourism, education and community, Australia will support Viet Nam in safely and effectively acquiring COVID-19 vaccine with a reasonable price.

Presently, about 15 enterprises have established trade relationships with Australia in Da Nang. As of October 2020, the export turnover to Australia reached 12 million USD while import turnover to Da Nang was 3 million USD. Presently, 29 Australian FDI projects are in Da Nang with a total investment of 13.9 million USD.
