On the afternoon of March 31st, Standing Vice-Chairman of the City People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh presided over a meeting with Mr. Dan Mtonga, acting Chief Representative of the World Vision International (WVI) in Viet Nam, on the occasion of his visit to Da Nang.
At the meeting, Mr. Mtonga gave an overview of the project protecting children and teenagers from sexual abuse via the internet in the City The project was sponsored by the US and has been implemented in Son Tra, Hai Chau and Cam Le districts with approximately 730,000 USD. The 3 year project is expected to be finished in September 2021.
As stated by Mr. Mtonga, through this project children and teenagers will be sponsored and supported their livelihood, provided with services of consultancy, prevention and interference upon having the risk of being abused, being abused via internet or facing negative matters due to social network.
Mr. Dan Mtonga said that WVI highly appreciated the effectiveness that the project has brought to Da Nang and proposed the implementation of the project’s 2nd stage in the City.

On behalf of the City’s leaders, Vice-Chairman Ho Ky Minh gave sincere thanks for the humanitarian activities of WVI in Da Nang in recent years, especially the implementation of this project in the districts of Son Tra, Hai Chau and Cam Le.
As stated by Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated 24th January 2019 of the Politburo (Course XII) regarding the building and development of Da Nang City until 2030 with a vision towards 2045 brings many opportunities for the City’s development. In addition to the goals of becoming one of the country’s most important cities, a social-economic-cultural center, and inspiring development for the Central Region and Highlands, Da Nang is aiming to build a worth-living city. Thus, Vice-Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that it is necessary to implement the 2nd stage of the project of protecting children and teenagers from sexual abuse via the internet.
Vice-Chairman Ho Ky Minh said that in the coming time, Da Nang will cooperate with WVI in Viet Nam to organize a meeting to evaluate the outcomes of the project, make a plan to carry out the 2nd stage, broadening the project’s scope to all the districts of the City; and committed that the City will facilitate WVI in Viet Nam to carry out its security projects in Da Nang.
