After nearly 2 years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 27th, Da Nang City officially reopened international commercial flights. To send off the first passengers from Da Nang International Airport to Singapore, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) hosted and coordinated with the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, Danang International Airport (ACV), and Singapore Airlines to organize the event “Da Nang welcomes the reopening of international flights” with the message “Welcome back world”, which took place at Departure Gates - International Terminal - Da Nang International Airport. Vice Chairman of the City’s People’s Committee Tran Phuoc Son attended the event.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the City’s People’s Committee Tran Phuoc Son said that, during the 2 years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the disruption of flight routes caused the aviation and tourism industry to face many great challenges and difficulties.
On behalf of the city’s leaders, Vice Chairman of the City’s People’s Committee Tran Phuoc Son highly appreciated the efforts and coordination of Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, Da Nang International Airport, and relevant units in preparing to reopen international flights along with the organization of today’s event.

“Today’s re-opening of international routes is particularly important, marking not only the return of international flights, but also a more positive development phase in the coming time. This event will be followed by new international flights. Da Nang City has set a target that, by 2023, it will have restored the routes already operated in 2019. The City’s People’s Committee is committed to continuing to focus on, timely direct and remove difficulties and obstacles to restore aviation and tourism activities in the new normal with the motto ‘safe and flexible adaptation, effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic’”, emphasized Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son.
Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son added that in June 2022, Da Nang City will organize Routes Asia 2022 - the prestigious aviation event of the Asia-Pacific region to attract representatives of airlines to connect with the city. Additionally, the city will organize many cultural and sports events of international scale.

Mr. Do Trong Hau - Deputy General Director of AHT shared: “March 27th is considered a milestone to welcome the return of the International Terminal - Da Nang International Airport. In the past two years, overcoming the challenging pandemic, we have always maintained our spirit, worked hard, constantly improved the quality of our services to been ready for the day to come back, bringing the best experiences for passengers and partners”.
In the morning of the same day, the City’s Department of Tourism organized to welcome the first 2 flights to Da Nang after the city had just reopened its international routes.
Flight SQ172 with nearly 100 passengers from Singapore landed in Da Nang at 11:05 AM on March 27th, kicking off the regular Singapore - Da Nang route operated by Singapore Airlines. The route has a frequency of 1 flight/day on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings and Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons.
At 12:30 on the same day, Flight VZ960 from Bangkok to Da Nang of Thai Vietjet Air landed in Da Nang with about 150 passengers. The route is operated with a frequency of 3 flights/week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and can be further adjusted according to market demand.
The ceremony to welcome international flights was jointly implemented by the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City with Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), Da Nang International Airport (ACV), Singapore Airlines, and Vietjet Air. Along with a welcome water cannon for when the plane landed, passengers were welcomed and given flowers right at the airport apron.
At the main stage at the International Arrival Gate, a welcoming lion dance with the participation of Miss Tourism Da Nang took place. Special souvenirs were prepared by the Department of Tourism for the welcome ceremony of more than 300 passengers on flights from Singapore and Bangkok.
Along with the welcome activity, Da Nang Department of Tourism and Thai Vietjet Air welcomed the press and travel delegation with more than 50 members to learn about and promote the destination to strengthen the exchange of the two markets. At the same time, the delegation of Thai Vietjet Air led by General Director Woranate Laprabang visited and worked with the city’s leaders to propose policies to support and promote the Thai market in the first 3 months of reopening tourism.
