Strengthening investment and trade promotion between Da Nang and Japan

On the afternoon of June 8th, Chairman of the City’s People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh hosted a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Yamada Takio on the occasion of his working visit to Da Nang.

At the meeting, Chairman Le Trung Chinh introduced an overview of the city’s socio-economic situation to Ambassador Yamada Takio. Accordingly, since March 2022, the city has begun to reopen for socio-economic recovery. Currently, foreign airlines are operating 3 international routes to Da Nang (Thailand, Singapore, and Korea). In the coming time, the city will host many significant events such as: Da Nang Investment Forum 2022 (June 25th), Japan Vietnam Festival (July 14th -17th, 2022).

Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that the city is currently calling for foreign investment in two key industrial parks, namely the Hi-Tech Park and the Information Technology Park, with priority industries being high-tech industries, and services and information and communication technology. Thus, Chairman Le Trung Chinh wished that Ambassador Yamada Takio would consider and introduce Japanese investors to survey, learn about the investment environment, and participate in forums and conferences to promote investment and trade in Da Nang.

Chairman Le Trung Chinh also expressed his wish that Mr. Yamada Takio would pay attention and connect Da Nang with Japanese localities in implementing exchange activities of trainees, workers, short-term and long-term training programs, thereby, contributing to creating jobs for the city’s workers and meeting the current human resource demand of Japanese localities.

Appreciating the city's rapid development after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Yamada Takio thanked the city government for always facilitating Japanese businesses to invest and operate locally.

The Ambassador said that Da Nang is one of the most attractive investment destinations for Japanese businesses, and affirmed that he would be a bridge to expand investment promotion activities, exchange of human resources, cooperation in tourism, cultural exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, especially the young generations, to further strengthen the friendship between both sides.

Chairman Le Trung Chinh and Ambassador Yamada Takio agreed that in the near future, many cooperation activities would be organized in the field of economic development as well as cultural and sports activities towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Japan (1973-2023).
