On the afternoon of June 24th, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City’s Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang hosted a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Yamada Takio on the occasion of his working visit to Da Nang.

At the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Van Quang was delighted upon knowing that Ambassador Yamada Takio would attend and deliver a speech at the Da Nang 2022 Investment Forum, to be held on the following day (June 25th). The Secretary of the City’s Party Committee emphasized that the Ambassador’s presence was paramount to show the determination of Japanese investors in Viet Nam.

According to Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, during the development process, Da Nang has always considered Japanese localities and businesses as the most significant and key partners in the city’s international integration strategy. Da Nang welcomed the first Japanese business in 1993. As of now, a total of 216 Japanese companies and projects have invested and Japan is currently the leading country in terms of the number of foreign businesses investing in Da Nang.

“The city government has always acknowledged and appreciated Japanese businesses, because they are serious investors, they comply with Vietnamese laws, do business effectively, and have community responsibility. Specifically, the fields that Japan wants to invest in, such as IT development or smart city construction, are quite suitable for Da Nang’s development orientation”, Secretary Nguyen Van Quang emphasized.

Also, Secretary Nguyen Van Quang highly appreciated the attention and coordination of large Japanese corporate groups such as BRG, Sumitomo, Mikazuki, etc. who have greatly networked and invested in the city, especially the practical and important contributions of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the city in recent years.

“Currently, the city is welcoming Japanese businesses interested in the Lien Chieu Port project. Therefore, I hope that JICA will support Sumitomo Group in particular and Japanese businesses and investors in general to accelerate cooperation and investment activities”, the Secretary shared.

Secretary Nguyen Van Quang said that in the coming time, the city will continue to perfect mechanisms to promote transportation investment and infrastructure, such as completing a beltway surrounding the city by the end of 2022 and investing in the construction of a cargo terminal and continue to expand Da Nang International Airport. In particular, from now until the end of the year, the city will start construction of the shared infrastructure of Lien Chieu Port and promote logistics zones to complete the ecosystem and connect traffic.
