Continued development of the close relationship between the Da Nang Court and Laos

On the afternoon of July 11th, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City’s Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang chaired a meeting with the delegation of the People’s Supreme Court of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic led by Deputy Chief Judge of the Lao People’s Supreme Court Khamphan Bunphakhom to visit and work in Da Nang. Also attending was Standing Vice Chairman of the City’s People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh.


Overview of the meeting

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Nguyen Van Quang said that the visit and work in Da Nang of the Lao People’s Supreme Court delegation at this time is significantly meaningful when both countries are looking forward to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Laos and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. In particular, the visit and work of the delegation this time not only strengthened the cooperation and close relationship between the both countries’ courts, but also exchanged experiences in adjudication, especially when both countries are actively reforming their judiciary, including reforming courts at all levels.

Secretary Nguyen Van Quang said that the People’s Courts at all levels in Da Nang and the High People’s Court in Da Nang are agencies with strong innovation in recent years, from staffing to adjudication activities, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The adjudication activities of local People’s Courts and the High People’s Court have greatly contributed to the stability of security and order, handling arising problems, especially in the context of the pandemic and and in the process of building and developing the city. Secretary Nguyen Van Quang assessed that the People’s Courts at all levels as well as the High People’s Court in Da Nang have been doing a good job in adjudicating administrative cases. Secretary Nguyen Van Quang requested the City’s People’s Court to exchange with the Delegation the experience in adjudicating administrative cases, online trials, as well as the strengths of the unit.

Secretary Nguyen Van Quang affirmed that Da Nang always highly values promoting the long-standing traditional relationship between Viet Nam and Laos. Recently, the high-ranking delegation of Da Nang has had a meaningful working trip to Laos, which was the first trip abroad of Secretary Nguyen Van Quang as Secretary of the City’s Party Committee.

Secretary Nguyen Van Quang wished the delegation a successful visit and work in Viet Nam and expressed confidence in the relationship between the courts of both countries in general and that the relationship between the High People’s Court and the People’s Courts in the City as well as the People’s Courts at all levels and localities of Da Nang and Laos would continue to develop and tightly stick together.
On behalf of the delegation, Deputy Chief Judge of the Lao People’s Supreme Court Khamphan Bunphakhom thanked the City’s leaders for the warm welcome.
Mr. Khamphan Bunphakhom shared that the working visits between leaders of Da Nang and Lao localities have contributed to tightening the relationship between both sides.

During this trip, Mr. Khamphan Bunphakhom hoped that the courts of Da Nang and Laos would share useful experience and valuable lessons to improve the activities of both sides’ courts and also to learn from each other. Mr. Khamphan Bunphakhom also expressed his belief that the friendship between Viet Nam and Laos is positively prospering and forever lasting.
