Overseas Vietnamese expatriates, business associations, and organizations abroad are the messengers who promote investment cooperation between Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular with businesses and investors of the host country. Investment of overseas Vietnamese in Da Nang tends to increase; the scale of projects is increasingly expanding and developing, greatly contributing to the city’s socio-economic development. However, the number of investment projects from overseas Vietnamese into Da Nang is still not commensurate with the growth of their community and the city’s potential and strengths. Standing Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet expressed his hope that more overseas Vietnamese would be interested in researching and implementing investment, business, and tourism projects in Da Nang.
Talking to overseas Vietnamese, Chairman of the City’s Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang said that Da Nang has gradually mobilized overseas Vietnamese experts and intellectuals to participate in programs and projects in many fields, becoming a bridge to develop friendly relations and international cooperation between the city and foreign localities. The city government always appreciates the efforts of the overseas Vietnamese, even though they live far away, they always look to their roots and share difficulties with their people, typically by donating and supporting the COVID-19 prevention and control.
Over the past time, implementing the Party’s guidelines and policies, especially Conclusion no. 12-KL/TW dated August 12th, 2021 by the Politburo on the work on overseas Vietnamese, Da Nang has proactively and actively innovated and diversified the contents and modes of operation, making the mobilization and gathering of overseas Vietnamese an important content and a thorough task. The city has welcomed and worked with overseas business delegations to learn about the investment environment; networked entrepreneurs of the city with overseas ones; taken advantage of overseas Vietnamese’s support to organize domestic and foreign trade and investment promotion events, increasingly informing the overseas Vietnamese community about the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s laws and policies, and the city’s investment attraction policies and fields.

At the meetings, overseas Vietnamese also put forth a few recommendations such as further simplification of administrative procedures, improving the law to ensure the interests of foreign investors, cooperation in training human resources in Germany, developing care services for the elderly in Viet Nam, etc. For Da Nang, the overseas Vietnamese proposed the city should open more direct flights from Da Nang to Europe, open a representative office to promote Da Nang tourism, organize events to introduce the city’s tourism and real estate investment in Germany, and network in the IT sector. At the same time, with more than 230,000 people but nearly 20,000 businesses, in addition to striving for better, overseas Vietnamese also expressed their willingness to support the networking of partners and accompanying the city if there are difficulties in natural disasters and epidemics.
On behalf of the delegation, Standing Deputy Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet thanked the overseas Vietnamese for their sincere contributions and requested relevant departments and agencies to provide information, and receive and consider proposals for implementation of proposals on areas of interest to overseas Vietnamese. Simultaneously, he expressed his wish that the Vietnamese community in Germany would continue to promote the spirit of mutual affection and good traditions of the nation, serving as a bridge to develop relations between Viet Nam and Germany. With the experience as well as the ties with the business community in the host country, the city leaders suggested that the diplomatic missions and the overseas Vietnamese community in Germany continue to pay attention to support Da Nang in diplomacy and promotion of investment - trade - tourism - cultural exchange - education in the coming time.
