Da Nang promoted and called for investment from Germany

From September 12th to 17th, 2022, the delegation of the leaders of Da Nang City led by Alternate Member of the Central Party Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City’s Party Committee, Chairman of the City’s People’s Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, had a working visit to Germany. Chairman of the City’s Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang also accompanied the delegation.

Investment promotion in Bremen

On the afternoon of September 12th, (local time), at Bremen City Hall, the “Invest Da Nang Seminar” took place. Attending were Mr. Vu Quang Minh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany; Ms. Kristina Vogt, Minister of Economics, Bremen; Mr. Christian Gutschmidt, Director of Bremen Foreign Trade Promotion and International Affairs; Mr. Andreas Heyer, CEO of Bremen Economic Development; delegates from organizations and business associations; investors in Bremen and neighboring localities.

Opening the Seminar, Chairman of the City’s Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee Ngo Xuan Thang expressed his pleasure when the cooperation relationship between Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular with Germany partners reaped many positive achievements in the past time.

In order to promote and attract overseas resources, accelerate socio-economic development, in collaboration with Bremen Government, the city organized the “Invest Da Nang Seminar” to create a forum to provide information about the investment environment and opportunities, and hopefully, more and more German businesses and tourists would choose Da Nang as a destination for investment, business, and relaxation, and act as a bridge to support the city to connect with the European investors and community.

Bremen authorities and business representatives listened to the delegation introduce briefly about Da Nang’s recent socio-economic development achievements as the city is gradually becoming more dynamic and contributing to promoting the Central Region-Central Highlands’ growth..

At the Seminar, Mr. Ricardo Benussi, representative of Dezan Shira & Associates, said that German businesses highly appreciate Da Nang’s investment environment with its competitive advantages in terms of infrastructure, human resources, and government support for investors. Da Nang’s urban scale and industrial infrastructure are suitable for attracting projects in the fields of ICT, high technology, and tourism.

Mr. Kolja Umland, Project Manager Vietnam & ASEAN at Bremeninvest, said that, with its existing strengths, Da Nang is a potential destination for Bremen businesses.

Attending the Seminar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh highly appreciated the fact that Da Nang City organized investment and tourism promotion in Germany and believed that the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Da Nang and Bremen investment promotion agencies at this event would be the basis for developing cooperation between both sides in many fields. At the same time, he emphasized his maximum support for the effective implementation of the memorandum.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the City’s Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that the Seminar facilitated businesses and investors in Bremen in particular and in Germany in general to learn more about Da Nang. In the coming time, Da Nang will continue to give priority to attracting projects in the fields of: high and advanced technology, environmentally friendly technology, clean and renewable energy, high-quality services and tourism, financial services, logistics and other modern services, modern technical infrastructure development, especially new fields under Industry 4.0.

Da Nang has been allowed by the Vietnamese Government to implement the Smart City Project, the Urban Government Model, and the City’s General Planning Project to 2030, with vision to 2045. This is the key to opening further development opportunities for Da Nang in the coming time. “Da Nang has identified European businesses and investors in general and Germany in particular as key partners in investment promotion and attraction. The city leaders are committed to creating a transparent investment and business environment and accompanying German businesses to deploy successful projects in Da Nang”, Standing Deputy Secretary stressed.

On this occasion, the Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency and Bremen’s economic development agency (Bremeninvest) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Investment Promotion Cooperation. The MOU is considered an important stepping stone for both localities to have more specific programs and activities to support each other in investment promotion and business networking, thereby, the agencies can research, propose, promote, and develop many cooperation programs in other fields such as trade, tourism, technology, education, etc.

Promoting the relationship between Da Nang and Bremen

On the same day, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City’s Party Committee, Chairman of the City’s People’s Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet worked with the Bremen Government. Ms. Kristina Vogt, Bremen Minister of Economics, chaired the reception.
Ms. Kristina Vogt expressed her pleasure to welcome the city leaders to visit and work. At the same time, she said that the potential for development of relations between Bremen and Da Nang is quite promising. Bremen is the center of commerce and industry, automation, shipping, marine logistics and economic exploitation, aerospace industry, renewable energy, seafood processing, beverages, etc.

In addition, with the strength of marine economic development and a workforce of more than 40,000 people working for 1,300 companies, transporting 1.5 million tons of goods per year, the second largest container port in Germany and the fourth in Europe, and the car industry with the second largest Mercedes-Benz factory in the world, Bremen has many areas to strengthen cooperation with Da Nang. Ms. Kristina Vogt said that Bremen wishes to cooperate with Da Nang to strengthen economic cooperation, implement trade promotion activities, and network businesses of both localities in the coming time.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the City’s Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highly appreciated the potential cooperation between both sides in the fields of manufacturing industry, automation, shipping, logistics, IT, and high-quality education. Based on similar economic development features and in line with the goals of attracting investment, developing trade, networking businesses between both localities, in the coming time, Da Nang will consider raising the level of cooperation between both localities.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh emphasized that Viet Nam and Germany have a special relationship, Germany is Viet Nam’s largest trading partner in Europe and Viet Nam is Germany’s largest trading partner in ASEAN. It is hoped that Viet Nam will be honored to have the first city from Southeast Asia to fully cooperate with Bremen to promote investment and trade cooperation.
