Implementing the project on training courses on school nutrition and healthcare sponsored by Nagasaki Prefectural University (Japan)

On February 9, Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang People's Committee chaired a meeting with Mr. Shinobu Inanaga - President of Nagasaki Prefectural University (Japan) and professors of the university.

Nagasaki Prefectural University was established in 1950 and has over 3000 undergraduate and graduate students. The school offers programs in economics, international business, communications, nursing, and nutrition. Nagasaki Prefectural University has signed official cooperation agreements with 15 universities worldwide including the University of Da Nang.

In 2017, with the consent of Da Nang People's Committee, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Nagasaki Prefectural University signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in international student exchange. In addition, Nagasaki Prefectural University offers many scholarships and intends to organize an entrance exam in Da Nang to reduce registration costs for local students.

The project, funded by Nagasaki Provincial University, aim to organize training courses on school nutrition and healthcare for local school management and staff that support preschools and primary schools in the city to raise awareness about nutrition and health via in person and online activities.

Nagasaki Prefectural University will provide experienced lecturers for the training and arrange interpretation and training documents. Da Nang Department of Education and Training will provide the venue and classroom management. Attendees will have to pass a final exam. Eligible students will be granted a certificate signed by Nagasaki Prefectural University and the Department of Education and Training.

The project will last for two to three years until the program is accessible to all staff of Da Nang's preschools and primary schools. Each course will last from three to five days, depending on the final curriculum which will be compiled by the project after surveying. Class 1 of 2023 will be opened on February 11, 2022.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen expressed appreciation to the President of Nagasaki Provincial University for supporting and implementing the project in Da Nang.

According to Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen, the project is important for Da Nang by contributing to positive changes in school health and the care and education of children by supplementing teacher knowledge about nutrition. Children will therefor have better conditions to grow and to study. .

President of Nagasaki Provincial University Shinobu Inanaga expressed his pleasure and thankfulness to the city leaders for their enthusiastic support for the project. This project will contribute to strengthening the relationship between Japan and Viet Nam in general and the relationship between Nagasaki Provincial  University and Da Nang University in particular.
