Da Nang and Korea to strengthen cooperation in startups and innovationm

On February 14, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh received the delegation from Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea (VINK) to discuss cooperation in innovation and startup activities.

After listening to recommendations from VINK, Mr. Ho Ky Minh stated that innovation and startup activities are always of significant interest to Da Nang. The City has built a diverse and innovative startup ecosystem with a full range of services such as incubators, creative spaces, and investment funds.

In the near future, Da Nang will put Software Park No. 2 into operation which reserves spaces for innovative startups. In addition, Da Nang Hi-Tech Park will also reserve 100 hectares for high-tech enterprises. Connecting and strengthening cooperation in startups and innovation is always supported by the City.

Mr. Ho Ky Minh highly appreciated the proposals from VINK, an organization that contributes to the development of trade, investment, startups and innovation between Viet Nam and Korea in general and Da Nang and Korea in particular.

Regarding the establishment of a Korea - Da Nang venture capital fund to invest in innovative startups, VINK specifically proposed that the Department of Finance and the Department of Science and Technology be the lead agencies.

Mr. Ho Ky Minh supported the proposal of an investment promotion event in Da Nang for Korean enterprises and assigned the Investment Promotion Agency to coordinate with VINK.

The Standing Vice Chairman assigned relevant departments and branches to work closely with City partners to propose specific activities that promote cooperation in investment, trade, startups and innovation.

At the meeting Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuoc, Chairman of VINK focused on the development of high-quality human resources. Specifically, strengthening the training of Korean-related majors at the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (Da Nang University) to facilitate students’ further training in Korea; enhancing cooperation opportunities between Korean and local information technology enterprises; and establishing a Korea-Da Nang venture capital fund of Vietnamese enterprises in Korea.
