On August 1, in Da Nang City, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the People's Committee of Da Nang City, organized the Closing Ceremony of Vietnam Summer Camp 2023 with the theme "Vietnamese Youth Marching towards the Future." The event emphasized the role of young overseas Vietnamese in accompanying the strong and prosperous development of the country. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, Mr. Ho Ky Minh - Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City,Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh- Head of the Information and Culture Division of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, along with 100 young people and students from Da Nang City and 120 young people and students from 26 countries and territories.
Over the previous 2 days, the overseas Vietnamese participants actively took part in cultural experience activities at various tourist destinations in the city, learned about the history and sovereignty of Vietnam at the Hoang Sa Exhibition House, and participated in competitions in the program "Vietnamese Young Talent" and the forum introducing tourism in Vietnam and Da Nang City.
The activities of Vietnam Summer Camp 2023 were closely designed with meaning, giving the participants opportunities to express themselves, explore, and connect with their home country, nurturing plans and implementing more practical and specific activities, in harmony with the country's development.
Especially in this Summer Camp, the participants contributed to charitable activities, raising a total of nearly 200 million VND. On the occasion of the country's commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2023), they offered flowers and lit incense at the Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, and contributed meaningful gifts to express gratitude to the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and the families of war invalids and martyrs in Quang Tri Province. They also supported children with disabilities, orphans, and underprivileged students, showcasing the spirit of solidarity and compassion, which are deeply rooted in Vietnamese humanity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho Ky Minh expressed his hope that the experiences in Da Nang City, the final leg of the Vietnam Summer Camp 2023 program, would leave beautiful and memorable memories for the participants about the city and its people. With their enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and dedication to the Vietnamese language, the participants actively shared their ideas on preserving the mother tongue, culture, and national identity, as well as promoting widespread tourism in Vietnam.
"In the future, Da Nang City will closely coordinate with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant ministries and agencies to actively support activities that preserve the Vietnamese language, promote the cultural identity of the nation, and create conditions for overseas Vietnamese to connect and contribute to the country's development, following the spirit of Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW dated August 12, 2021, of the Politburo on the work with overseas Vietnamese," emphasized Mr. Ho Ky Minh.
