On August 10th, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Tran Chi Cuong, had a meeting with Mr. Bader Almatrooshi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Vietnam, during his visit in Da Nang.
Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong congratulated Mr. Bader Almatrooshi on taking on the role of UAE Ambassador to Vietnam. He expressed his confidence that with his experience and enthusiasm, the Ambassador will contribute to promoting the diplomatic relations between the two countries in general and the development of Da Nang - UAE relations in particular, especially as Vietnam and the UAE commemorate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1993-2023).
Mr. Cuong stated that the UAE holds great potential as a market for trade and investment, with strong financial resources, capabilities, and experience in areas such as energy, trade, high technology, agriculture, and infrastructure.
The UAE is Vietnam's largest trading partner in the Middle East and the 7th largest export market. In recent years, bilateral trade turnover has consistently exceeded $5 billion USD.
However, the cooperation relationship between Da Nang and the UAE still has limitations that do not match the potential advantages of both sides. Therefore, Vice Chairman Cuong hopes that Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi, in his capacity, will act as a bridge to attract investors to explore the investment environment in Da Nang. Additionally, cultural and people-to-people exchange activities can be organized in the city on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Vice Chairman Cuong expressed his desire for both sides to enhance the exchange of experience in operating the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) in the UAE. He also emphasized Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi stated that the UAE is currently one of Vietnam's major trading partners in the Middle East. The UAE aims to develop cooperative relations with Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular, focusing on various areas, especially technological investment, energy, trade, and tourism. In his role, Ambassador Bader Almatrooshi affirmed his commitment to connecting UAE businesses to promote investment cooperation in Da Nang in the coming time.
