On September 12, in Da Nang, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of the City Party Committeeand Head of the National Assembly delegation, met with Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex. This meeting discussed Samsung's commitment to supporting Da Nang’s industrial growth.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Consul General of South Korea in Da NangYeom Ji Yeon; Director of the Industrial Department Truong Thanh Hoai(Ministry of Industry and Trade); Deputy Chairman of the Da NangPeople's CommitteeTran Chi Cuong; and leaders of various departments and agencies in the city.
During the discussion, Secretary Nguyen Van Quang welcomed Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex, to Da Nangand to the Industrial Support and Processing and Manufacturing Exhibition 2023. He also expressed his appreciation for Samsung's collaboration in the Smart Factory Development Project for Vietnamese businesses in Da Nangand the Central region through an MOU sign between Samsung, the Industrial Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Da NangDepartment of Industry and Trade.
Secretary Nguyen Van Quang informed Mr. Choi Joo Ho that, after the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism was one of the sectors that recovered rapidly in the city. According to statistics, currently, Korean tourists are the largest group of international tourists visiting Da Nang. Additionally, many businesses have come to explore and invest in the city in the industrial and real estate sectors after the pandemic.
Mr. Quang also emphasized that Da Nanghas infrastructure suitable for industrial development and specific policies to support and promote the development of supporting industries and processing and manufacturing sectors. The city has been actively improving its transportation infrastructure, with the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Lien Chieu Port project, which plays a crucial role in promoting Vietnam's logistics development, particularly in the Central region.
One of the city's development orientations is high-tech industries, so Da Nangis very interested in the supporting industry and processing and manufacturing sectors. The city has specific policies to support the development of these sectors.
In alignment with Samsung's development direction, the company's initiatives are in line with the needs and development directions of Da Nang. Da Nangis also one of the favorable localities for investment by Korean investors in general and Samsung in particular.
Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex, expressed his admiration for the city's recovery and development in industries and tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic.
He shared that Samsung officially started investing and constructing its first mobile phone manufacturing factory in Bac Ninh in 2008, marking the beginning of Samsung's investment journey in Vietnam. Over the past 15 years, Samsung has continuously invested in Vietnam, and in 2024, it plans to continue its investment and contribute to Vietnam's economic development.
Currently, Samsung Vietnam is strengthening its investment in research and development and high-tech areas, focusing on cooperation with Vietnamese businesses and efforts to enhance the capabilities of Vietnamese businesses through supporting industry development.
The memorandum of understanding signed between Samsung Vietnam, the Industrial Department, and the Da NangDepartment of Industry and Trade aims to enhance the capabilities of two Da Nang-based companies through the implementation of the Smart Factory Development Project for Vietnamese businesses, contributing to Vietnam's industrial development support. In the near future, two companies in Da Nangwill be selected to enhance their capacity and meet global business standards.
