On September 26, at the Smart City Mayors Forum held in Seoul, South Korea, Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Council, represented Da Nang City in receiving the Seoul Smart City Prize. In 2023, it is the first time the Seoul Smart City Prize has been jointly organized and awarded by the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Da Nang City was honored with the "Human Centricity" award, signifying a focus on serving the people and making "human-centered" innovations in smart city models. This award aims to promote creative, comprehensive smart city models that reduce digital divides in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The core mission of this award serves as the basis for two categories of the prize: "Tech-InnovaCity" and "Human-CentriCity."
The panel of judges for the award includes experts from various fields within smart cities, including artificial intelligence (AI), data management, e-government, social organizations, non-governmental organizations, international development cooperation, urban planning, and urban development.
Previously, in 2019, Da Nang was awarded the Smart City prize by the Asia-Oceania Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO Smart City). Currently, in addition to being an official member of WeGO, Da Nang is a member of the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN).
