On 26 April, the Singapore Navy Ship RSS INTREPID with 150 officers and crew members, arrived in Tien Sa Port to start a four-day official visit to the city. The welcoming ceremony was held was held at Tien Sa Port in the presence of leading representatives from the Foreign Affairs Department of the Defence Ministry, the Command of Naval Force Zone No 3, the Command of Military Zone No 5, the city’s Border Guard, the Da Nang City Military Headquarters and the Da Nang Foreign Affairs Department.

On 19 April, the Da Nang People’s Committee and FPT, a Vietnamese software giant, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on building Da Nang into a ‘smart’ city over the 2018 - 2020 period. Under this MoU, priorities will be given to help the city develop smart solutions in traffic and agriculture, English language training, health care and tourism.

A ceremony to repatriate the remains believed to be of three American servicemen who died during the Viet Nam War was held at Da Nang International Airport on 15 April. Representatives of the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP) and the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) attended the ceremony.
