On the morning of April 11th, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the city, chaired a reception for the diplomatic delegation of the European Union (EU) member countries in Vietnam.

During the reception, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong provided an overview of Da Nang's socio-economic progress in the first quarter of 2024 and outlined the city's development priorities in cultural, educational, innovation, startup, IT, high-tech agriculture, and fisheries sectors.

Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong proposedthat EU Ambassadors collaborate to arrange delegations to explore investment opportunities and cooperation in Da Nang, serving as a conduit to foster friendly relations and collaboration between EU partners and the city across various domains, notably tourism and port development. He emphasized the need to showcase Da Nang widely, attract potential EU investors, and facilitate business prospecting.

He also expressed the desire for the Ambassadors to support cultural exchange initiatives, introduce European culture to Da Nang, promote Vietnamese culture and Da Nang to EU citizens, offer scholarships for Da Nang students (particularly in high-tech, IT, and biotechnology fields), and foster collaboration between EU training institutions and Da Nang schools.

Acknowledging the city's hospitality, Ambassador Julien Guerrier, Head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam, highlighted the positive trajectory of Vietnam-EU relations and expressed eagerness to further enhance cooperation.

Specifically, the EU prioritizes collaboration with universities for country identity research through international partnerships, offering exchange opportunities for officials, educators, and students at European universities, and nurturing high-caliber human resources for national development.

Moreover, Ambassador Julien Guerrier pledged to introduce European businesses and investors to explore, cooperate, and invest in promising Da Nang projects. Additionally, the EU is committed to supporting environmentally friendly energy conversion, high-tech industries, data centers, and city development policies.
