Vice Chairman Vo Duy Khuong giving gift to Ambassador Deborah Chatsis
These fields are also Canada’s strengths. Vice Chairman Khuong reported that cooperation in investment and trading between Da Nang and Canadian localities is still rather limited. The city has only 3 Canada-invested projects, and all are small-scale service ones. He also spoke about trying to establish a friendly relationship between Da Nang and a Canadian locality which is similar to Da Nang.
Ambassador Chatsis said that her first priority in the cooperation between Da Nang and Canada will be education. Through the many education fairs held by the Canadian Embassy in Da Nang, and the associated training programmes between education institutions of the city and Canada, she hoped that her country would receive more students from Da Nang.
She added that Da Nang has become an appealing destination for foreign investors due to the city’s strong infrastructure development in recent years. Canadian investors have shown a lot of interest in the public-private partnership (PPP) model that Da Nang has decided to apply to future projects in the city. She emphasised that the application of PPP is very successful in Canada, and suggested that the city should create every favourable condition so that any investors who have concerns could easily access the latest information about the city’s PPP projects.
