The Da Nang Representative Office in Japan recently reported that Japan’s Tokyo Keiki Inc and its associated companies have decided to build a plant in Da Nang. The total investment will be 40 million USD, or the equivalent of approximately 840 billion VND. The decision was officially announced by Mr Motoshi Mitobe, Executive Vice President cum International Development Director of Tokyo Keiki.
The plant will manufacture solenoid directional valves for supply to developing countries. It is scheduled that Tokyo Keiki will submit an application for issuance of the investment certificate this month, and the tentative name of the Da Nang-based subsidiary company is Tokyo Keiki Precision Technology Co Ltd.
In the initial stage, the enterprise will rent a facility in Da Nang, and its operation is set to begin in April 2013. Tokyo Keiki Precision-Technology will then move to a newly-built plant on a site of 30,000 square metres at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park in 2014. The Tokyo Keiki plant will use components mainly imported from Japan, and its products will be exported to the USA, China, Taiwan and the Republic of Korea.
Mr Motoshi Mitobe said that Tokyo Keiki came to its decision because Da Nang has relatively well-developed public facilities and transport infrastructure, and stable human resources which suits the city’s orientation for hi-tech development. In addition, the city has proximity and access to an airport and international maritime ports.
It is reported that other companies associated with Tokyo Keki also visited and plan to invest in the Da Nang Hi-tech Park soon. They include Niwa, a manufacturer of hydraulic mechanical equipment.
Tokyo Keiki was established in 1896. It has 25 R&D centres, plants and representative offices in Japan, and 60 affiliated companies, representative offices and branches worldwide. It specialises in research, exploitation and manufacture of hi-tech high-precision mechanical products. Tokyo Keiki’s turnover was 524 million USD in 2011 and is estimated to reach 569 million USD this year.
