Closing and Awards Ceremony of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival
On the evening of July 5, the closing and awards ceremony of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III – 2025) was ceremoniously held in Da Nang City, concluding a vibrant artistic journey. The event not only honored outstanding works and artists from Vietnamese and Asian cinema but also marked a significant stride in Da Nang's development on the regional cultural map.
Attending the closing and awards ceremony were Mr. Mai Van Chinh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Head of the City National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Le Hai Binh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People's Committee.
At the closing ceremony, in addition to familiar categories such as the Asian Film Competition Award, Vietnamese Film Competition Award, NETPAC Award, and Audience Award, DANAFF III for the first time presented the Critics' Award for Outstanding Asian Film in the "Panorama of Asian Cinema" program. The event was also marked by the international premieres of 11 Asian films and numerous Vietnamese films, affirming DANAFF's growing prestige in the regional cinematic arena.
In the Vietnamese Film Competition category, "Sister-in-Law" by director Khuong Ngoc won Best Film, also securing two additional awards for Best Lead Actress (Viet Huong) and Best Screenplay (Toto Chan, Kim, Khuong Ngoc). Director Victor Vu was honored with the Best Director award for "Detective Kien: The Headless Case"; actor Tuan Tran received the Best Lead Actor award for "Making a Fortune with Ghosts." The Special Jury Award went to "Child Prodigy Quynh: Legend of the Golden Buffalo”.
In the Asian Film Competition category, Best Film went to "Deal at the Border" (Kyrgyzstan); Best Director was awarded to Director Guan Hu for "Black Dog" (China). Actresses Nurzhan Beksultanova (film "Abel," Kazakhstan) and Kang-sheng Lee (film "Stranger Eyes," Singapore – Taiwan) received Best Lead Actress and Best Lead Actor awards, respectively. Best Screenplay was awarded to "Muddy Foot" (Iran). Notably, "Don't Cry Butterfly"—a collaborative production between Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries—received the Special Jury Award.
The Audience Award for most beloved Vietnamese film was given to "Cricket: Adventure to the Muddy Hamlet," while "Sister-in-Law" continued to make its mark by winning the NETPAC Award for outstanding Vietnamese film.
Concluding with deep emotions, DANAFF III was not merely a professional and high-quality playground but also a distinctive artistic rendezvous, where creative visions converged, contributing to establishing Da Nang as an attractive destination on the regional and international cinematic map.

Strengthening Exchange and Cooperation between Da Nang and Sakai (Japan)
On the morning of July 7, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, chaired a reception for the delegation from the Sakai City (Japan) Parliamentarians' Friendship Alliance , led by Mr. Nishi Tetsushi, Parliamentarian, Vice Chairman of the Alliance, and member of the Administrative Committee and Special Committee for Research on Policies to Address Population Decline in Sakai City.
Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh highly praised the excellent friendly cooperative relationship between Da Nang City and Sakai City. He stated that in recent times, exchange activities have gradually become annual events, receiving significant interest and positive reception in Da Nang City. Notably, since 2019, Sakai City has elevated its relationship with Da Nang City to the highest level.
"With the potential and strengths of the new Da Nang City, we sincerely hope that the Sakai City Parliamentarians' Friendship Alliance will support and facilitate new cooperation opportunities for both Da Nang and Sakai in fields such as trade, investment, sharing experiences in building a Free Trade Zone and Financial Center; and promoting cultural and tourism exchanges between the two sides," stated Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee.
Mr. Nishi Tetsushi, Vice Chairman of the Sakai City Parliamentarians' Friendship Alliance, stated that in addition to strengthening economic cooperation and cultural exchange, green transition is a highly potential area where they can discuss and support Da Nang City, contributing to further cementing the friendly cooperative relationship between the two cities.

Da Nang and South Korea Share Experiences on Organizing APEC Summit
On the afternoon of July 8, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, chaired a working session with a delegation from the Korean National Assembly to discuss experiences from successfully organizing the APEC Summit in 2017.
Sharing Da Nang's experience in hosting APEC 2017, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong stated that it was the first time Vietnam had hosted a high-level international event outside of its capital city. The event saw the participation of leaders from 21 APEC member economies visiting Da Nang, including South Korea and three Southeast Asian observer countries (Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar).
The event took place from November 6 to 11, 2017. During this period, Da Nang welcomed 11,000 delegates, including 2,000 entrepreneurs and 3,000 domestic and international journalists.
Korean National Assembly Member Kim Gihyeon, Chairman of the Special Committee for the APEC Summit 2025, extended his gratitude to the city's leadership for their warm reception. He also stated that they would study the city's experiences and efforts in successfully organizing APEC 2017 to apply them to the organization of the APEC Summit 2025.

The Chinese team won the championship title at DIFF 2025
On the evening of July 12, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2025 officially concluded on the banks of the Han River with a dazzling final night. The Jiangxi Yangfeng team (China) excellently won the championship, earning a prize of 20,000 USD. The Z121 fireworks team (Vietnam) made it to the finals for the first time and claimed the runner-up position, receiving an award of 10,000 USD.
The judges stated that the selection of this year's champion team was incredibly difficult because both teams left a strong impression: China stood out with multi-layered techniques and a grand musical arrangement; Vietnam impressed the audience with its sophisticated storytelling rich in national identity.
DIFF 2025 also honored three teams in special categories: the 'Creativity' award to Macedos Pirotecnia (Portugal); the 'Audience Favorite' award was given to the Da Nang Fireworks Team (Vietnam); Martarello Group (Italy) received the 'Potential' award. Each award is worth 5,000 USD.
