Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee talks with Japanese enterprisesJapan is ranking the first for number of and the fourth for total capital of FDI projects in the city with 68 valid projects, worth a total of 355.5 million USD. Most of these projects are in manufacturing and processing industries with 87.9%, whilst services projects make up 10.8% and seafood processing 1.3%. More Japanese IT enterprises are operating in Da Nang, and the city is now home to 15 Japanese enterprises involving in software design and outsourcing.

Da Nang’s photos selected for international artistic photo exhibition 2013“Cau Rong” (The Dragon Bridge) by Ho Xuan Bon, “Em be Cotu” (Cotu Ethnic Child) by Dang Van No, “Vu dieu Tay Nguyen” (The Dance of the Highlands) by Vo Cong Hung, “Em be mien Tay Bac” (Northwest Region Child) by Than Nguyen, and “Khi” (Monkey) by Ngo Minh Duc have been selected for display at the International Artistic Photo Exhibition 2013. The result was announced recently by the Viet Nam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA).

New Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam visits Da NangSecretary of the Municipal Communist Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council, Mr Tran Tho, recently met with the newly-appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Viet Nam, Mr Hiroshi Fukada, on his visit to the city at the beginning of his term of office in Viet Nam.

Japan self-defence ships visit Da NangThree ships from the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF), comprising the Isoyuki (DD127), Shirayuki (TV3517) and JDS Kashima (TV3508), with a total of 750 officers and crew members aboard, arrived at Tien Sa Port on 19 October at the start of their three-day official visit to Da Nang. The ships was commanded by Rear Admiral Fumiyuki Kitagawa.

Viet Nam Red Cross Society and ECHO survey Da Nang’s damage caused by Storm NariThe Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Phung Tan Viet, recently met with a delegation from the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, the Commission’s European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO), the French Red Cross, the Spanish Red Cross, Save the Children in Viet Nam and France’s DWF on their visit to survey Da Nang’s damage after the recent Storm Nari.

Vietnamese Goods Fair 2013 opens in Da Nang130 stands of 85 enterprises from 10 provinces and cities across the country displayed and sell more than 400 products at the Vietnamese Goods Fairs which began on 13 October. The event, hosted by the Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs Association and the city’s Trade Promotion Centre, took place at the 29 March Park.

2 million EUR for study on Da Nang’s sustainable developmentDa Nang was nominated for a 2 million Euros study on urban sustainable development sponsored by the French government and European Community, and Tangram Architectes had been selected to implement this long-term planning study. The information was announced by Architect Didier Ducher, Tangram Architectes’s Asia region director, at his recent meeting with the Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Van Huu Chien.

US Higher Education Fair 2013 in Da NangThe Institute of International Education (IIE) will bring the US Higher Education Fair 2013 to Da Nang’s HAGL Plaza from 16.00 to 19.00hrs tomorrow, 10 October. It will follow on from HCM City and Ha Noi on 6 and 8 October respectively.
