Announcing the Central Government's decisions on the establishment of the new city of Da Nang

On the morning of June 30, at the Truong Vuong Theater in Da Nang city, a ceremony was held to announce important resolutions and decisions of the Central and local governments regarding the merger of administrative units and the organization of the political apparatus.

At the ceremony, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Thanh Tam announced the resolution of the National Assembly on the establishment of Da Nang city based on the merger of Quang Nam province and Da Nang city, with the political-administrative center located in Da Nang. The new city has an area of over 11,800 km² and a population of more than 3 million people – the largest among the six centrally-run cities.

At the same time, the resolution of the National Assembly's Standing Committee was announced regarding the termination of the district-level administrative unit operations and the establishment of 94 commune-level administrative units, including 23 wards, 70 communes, and the special zone of Hoang Sa. The Politburo also issued a decision to establish the Da Nang city Party Committee under the Central Government based on the merging of two-Party Committees: appointing 74 members of the Executive Committee and 23 members of the Standing Committee to the City Party Committee.

Creating a favorable investment environment for Japanese enterprises

On the morning of July 4th, during a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Ito Naoki, the Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, introduced an overview of the new city of Da Nang and affirmed the commitment to creating a favorable investment environment, simplifying procedures for foreign enterprises, especially Japanese companies.

Ambassador Ito Naoki congratulated Da Nang on its open space and development potential, while expressing hope that the city will make breakthroughs thanks to new mechanisms and policies. He wishes to enhance cooperation, especially in the urban railway project connecting Da Nang - Quang Nam and developing transportation infrastructure.

Da Nang – Naju: Driving Sustainable Urban and Smart City Development Collaboration

On the morning of July 4, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, received Mr. Kim Gwan-yong, Vice Chairman of the Naju City Council (South Korea).

During the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Thi briefed the delegation on the upcoming merger of Quang Nam Province and Da Nang City. She then highlighted the new city's notable potentials and advantages, emphasizing the pivotal role of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, its comprehensive North-South and East-West transportation network, and the presence of two Class-1 seaports and two airports. She also underscored the robust logistics capacity, with cargo throughput at Tien Sa and Chu Lai ports projected to reach 20 million tons annually.

The Vice Chairwoman also elaborated on the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone's role as an economic engine, particularly in automobile manufacturing, precision engineering, and supporting industries. Concurrently, she affirmed the High-Tech Park's significant potential for advancements in electronics, software, and artificial intelligence.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi expressed Da Nang's strong desire to intensify collaboration with Naju across mutually beneficial sectors, including smart city development and sustainable urban initiatives. She extended a cordial invitation to Naju's leadership and representatives to attend the Vietnam - Korea Festival in Da Nang, scheduled for August 1-3, 2025.

Mr. Kim Gwan-yong, Vice Chairman of the Naju City Council, affirmed Naju's commitment to enhancing exchanges and cooperation across various shared interest areas, thereby further strengthening the enduring friendly relationship between the two municipalities.

Da Nang - Japan promotes comprehensive cooperation in the new development era

On the afternoon of July 4, as part of the 10th Vietnam - Japan Festival, the Da Nang City People's Committee held a conference titled 'Meeting Japan in Da Nang' to strengthen cooperation based on the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that the timing of the conference is particularly significant as the city has just completed its administrative reorganization, expanding its development space, aiming towards building an ecological, modern, smart, and livable urban area.

Da Nang affirms that Japan is a leading strategic partner in the fields of smart cities, high technology, sustainable tourism, healthcare, education, and human resource development. Therefore, the city wishes to promote extensive cooperation with localities and Japanese businesses, especially in responsible investment projects, technology transfer, and innovation.

Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki commended the development potential of Da Nang after restructuring, expressed confidence in a new wave of investments from Japan, and hoped that the resumption of the Da Nang - Osaka flight would contribute to enhancing economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges between the two sides.

Opening ceremony of the 10th Vietnam - Japan Festival in Da Nang

On the evening of July 4th, the 10th Vietnam - Japan Festival officially opened at East Sea Park, marking a decade of development of this cultural event, which is a hallmark of the friendly relations between the two countries.

Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized the special significance of this year's festival, taking place shortly after the city of Da Nang was established from the merger with Quang Nam province. She expressed hope that the festival will create broader opportunities for cooperation with Japanese partners.

This year's festival gathers a large number of delegates from various localities in Japan and over 100 enterprises from both countries, featuring a variety of activities such as cultural exchanges, artistic performances, promotion of OCOP products, and economic cooperation.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki praised the scale of the organization, considering this the first exchange event of the 'new Da Nang' and a testament to the increasingly deepening Vietnam - Japan relationship. He hopes that the resumption of the Osaka - Da Nang flight and existing Japanese investment projects will continue to promote comprehensive cooperation, making Da Nang a dynamic, creative, and prosperous destination in the future.

ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable 2025: Vietnam, a Top Choice

Held from July 2-4, the inaugural ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable Conference 2025, co-hosted by Duy Tan University and ASEAN-Korean partners, convened in Da Nang. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea Yong Ho Seong, and Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan.

The first ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable Conference in 2025 is a key activity within the framework of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area (AKFTA) Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Initiative between the governments of ASEAN countries and South Korea. The event brought together policymakers, tourism businesses, experts, and representatives of international organizations from both regions, marking an important milestone in tourism cooperation between ASEAN and South Korea.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong stated that tourism cooperation between ASEAN and South Korea has seen clear developments recently. In 2024 alone, ASEAN welcomed nearly 127 million international visitors, with South Korea being one of the top three source markets, contributing approximately 10 million visitors.

"Notably, Vietnam is delighted to be the leading destination in the region chosen by South Korean tourists, with 4.6 million visitors. This is clear evidence of the comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea, and it also shows the increasing trust, affection, and deep connection between the people of the two countries," said Deputy Minister Ho An Phong.

The conference aims to promote tourism cooperation between ASEAN countries and South Korea. The first ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable Conference 2025 takes place from July 2 to 4, focusing on four key areas: Enhancing security and facilitating tourism development; Improving tourism infrastructure systems to enhance tourist experience; Training human resources for the tourism industry; Promoting understanding of cultural diversity between ASEAN countries and South Korea.

International Experience Crucial for Film Industry Development

Within the framework of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) 2025, an international seminar titled "Identifying and Nurturing Cinematic Talent: International Experiences and Vietnam's Proposed Solutions" convened on the afternoon of July 1. The event gathered numerous domestic and international experts, artists, and filmmakers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, was among the attendees.

The seminar provided a valuable platform for local and international specialists to exchange insights and effective training models, while proposing solutions tailored to Vietnam's context. This was notably facilitated through DANAFF Talents' "Talent Incubation" and "Project Incubation" programs. Da Nang anticipates discovering and supporting promising individuals poised to shape the future of Vietnamese cinema on the global stage.

As a significant forum within DANAFF III, the discussions centered on building a new generation of filmmakers through international learning and expanded cooperation. Key topics included human resource training for the Vietnamese film industry amidst digitalization and globalization, developing film training programs within multidisciplinary universities, and crucial factors for international collaboration on Vietnamese projects.

"Love in Viet Nam": the first collaborative production between India and Vietnam

"Love in Viet Nam," the first collaborative film between India and Vietnam, has premiered. The premiere event on the evening of July 1st garnered significant public and media interest, creating a memorable cinematic night as part of the Third Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) in 2025. This film marks a crucial milestone in the cultural cooperation between the two nations.

With the message "Bringing Vietnamese stories to the world," "Love in Viet Nam" is a cinematic work that not only embodies the spirit of Vietnamese love and culture but also symbolizes the wonderful fusion of Vietnamese and Indian cinema. Da Nang was specifically chosen as one of the filming locations, contributing to the sweet narrative.

During the film's launch, Nguyen Thi Hoi An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed that the department, in its role of managing the cinema sector, will continuously support organizations and businesses. This commitment aims to establish Da Nang as an appealing destination on the global cinema map, aligning with DANAFF III's message, "DANAFF - Asian Bridge," which connects and promotes Da Nang's image to friends and tourists, both domestic and international.
