The Prime Minister approved Mr. Pham Duc An to hold the position of Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee
The Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed a decision approving Mr. Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee for the term 2021 – 2026. Previously, at a special session, the City People's Council elected him to this position. Mr. Pham Duc An, born in 1970 and hailing from Nghe An, has extensive leadership experience in the banking sector and previously served as Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee before being assigned to work in Da Nang.

Creating the Best Conditions for Thai Businesses to Invest in Da Nang
On the afternoon of September 11, Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, hosted a meeting with Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, the Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City.
During the reception, Chairman Pham Duc An expressed Da Nang's strong desire to deepen cooperation with Thai localities. He specifically mentioned the goal of continuing and expanding upon past agreements that were signed between Quang Nam province (formerly) and Da Nang with two Thai partners.
On behalf of the Consulate General, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn stated her hope that both sides will continue to work closely together to turn investment opportunities into reality. She also proposed increasing direct flights between Thailand and Da Nang and boosting cooperation in several key areas. These include strengthening supply chains, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), connecting local economies, and creating sustainable value. She placed special emphasis on collaboration in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and education.

On the morning of September 8th, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, hosted a meeting with Oregon State Representative Daniel Loc Nguyen and his delegation during their working visit to Da Nang.
According to Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Da Nang will transition to a two-tier urban government system starting July 1, 2025. The city plans to focus on developing its key strengths, including tourism, logistics, information technology, the digital economy, and high-tech industries like semiconductors, AI, and blockchain.
The city also aims to establish a free trade zone and an international financial center, using special policies to drive significant growth. He expressed his hope that Oregon would act as a bridge to expand future collaboration with Da Nang.
Representative Daniel Loc Nguyen highlighted Oregon's strong points in high technology, agriculture, and forestry, as well as its university system and innovative research centers that work with many major corporations. He also expressed an ardent desire to increase cooperation with Da Nang in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, high-tech manufacturing, agriculture and forestry, trade, and market research and consulting services.

Many cultural and artistic activities celebrate the Party Congress of the city
On the morning of September 12, during the press conference for the first Congress of the municipal Party Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced that Da Nang will organize numerous celebratory activities, notably three major fine arts programs. Among these, the Da Nang Concert titled "Da Nang - Connecting the Future" has already occurred at the Da Nang Museum, while the program "Da Nang Aspiration" is scheduled to be held at the 29-3 Square (Sep 18) and at the 24-3 Square (Sep 19). With a duration of 120 minutes, directed by the esteemed artist Quang Hao, the program portrays the love for the homeland, the beauty of the Quang region, and the aspirations of the city to thrive. In addition, Da Nang is also organizing dozens of performances, exhibitions, libraries, and street art to create a vibrant atmosphere in celebration of the Congress.

Awarding 230 Sojitz scholarships to students in Da Nang.
On the morning of September 9, at Le Quy Don High School, the Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with Sojitz Vietnam Co., Ltd., awarded 230 Sojitz scholarships, each worth 2.5 million VND, to underprivileged students from 84 secondary and high schools in the city, along with 900 recorder flutes donated to 20 elementary schools. This marks the 8th year of the program being implemented in Da Nang, aimed at supporting students in their academic efforts, nurturing their dreams, and contributing to the city's development.
Sojitz Vietnam Co., Ltd. will continue to accompany the education sector, creating more opportunities for many disadvantaged students to receive support in attending school, learning, and improving their skills.
