Enhancing Comprehensive Cooperation with Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan)
On the morning of November 13, the delegation from Kanagawa Prefecture (Japan) led by Governor Kuroiwa Yuji paid a courtesy call to Da Nang city leaders and discussed promoting friendly cooperative relations between the two localities. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung received and worked with the delegation.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Kuroiwa Yuji and the Kanagawa Prefecture delegation to visit and work in Da Nang.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee stated that Japan is currently a major investor in Da Nang with nearly 280 projects and a total capital of over 1.2 billion USD. Bilateral import and export turnover averages over 1 billion USD per year. Japan is also a key tourism market for Da Nang, with nearly 240,000 visitors in the first 9 months of the year.
Inheriting and promoting the achievements gained during the exchange and cooperation process between the two localities, the city leaders wish to continue strengthening comprehensive cooperation in all fields, focusing on industry, logistics, science - technology, education, and culture. They also wish to regularly maintain exchange activities and delegation visits at all levels, contributing to consolidating and deepening the friendly relationship between Da Nang and Kanagawa Prefecture.
Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture Kuroiwa Yuji shared his sympathy for the damages that the government and people of Da Nang city have just suffered due to natural disasters. He affirmed that Kanagawa is ready to cooperate closely with Da Nang, promoting specific cooperation programs in the near future, contributing to further tightening the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, and Da Nang and Kanagawa in particular.

<p style="line-height: 30px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">At the meeting, City People's Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi informed that, to ensure international aid and cooperation activities are continuously and effectively deployed following the administrative unit merger, the City People's Committee has directed departments, agencies, and local authorities to enhance coordination and support for the activities of foreign non-governmental organizations, including WWF. The Department of Finance has issued guidelines on transitioning and managing programs and projects in accordance with the Government's regulations in Decree No. 80/2020/ND-CP (Decree on the management and use of non-refundable aid not part of official development assistance from foreign agencies, organizations, and individuals for Vietnam).</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 30px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Currently, WWF is coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to develop the Project on forest restoration and livelihood development in the former Quang Nam area, with a total capital of over 8.1 million USD, and is expected to fund many new programs in the near future.</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 30px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">The City People's Committee Vice Chairwoman expressed her desire for WWF to continue accompanying and supporting the city in the following areas: developing the Strategy and Action Plan on biodiversity, establishing financial mechanisms for conservation, managing natural heritage and wetlands. Forest restoration, carbon credit development, improving management capacity and reducing emissions. Applying science - technology and digital transformation in resource management and biodiversity conservation. Training, research, and data sharing on natural resource management.</span></p>
<p style="line-height: 30px; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Martin Kabaluapa Kapinga, General Director of WWF Office Management, stated that the merger of the province/city opens up many cooperation opportunities between WWF and Da Nang. WWF desires and is committed to continuing cooperation with Da Nang to implement activities related to forest protection and restoration, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of nature conservation work in the locality.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Mr. Michiel van der Ruijt, Regional Director of Van Oord, provided an overview of the group and projects already implemented in Vietnam. Van Oord has strengths in marine construction, offering climate adaptation solutions and upgrading coastal infrastructure. The company expressed its desire to cooperate with Đà Nẵng in the fields of seaport development, land reclamation, with particular interest in the Lien Chieu Port project, river mouth dredging, and research on artificial island city models.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">On the afternoon of November 4, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, received and worked with the Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam, James Nickel.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi gave a brief overview of Da Nang's potential, advantages, and development orientation after the merger, emphasizing industry as a key sector creating momentum for growth, aiming for the goal of becoming an economic and social hub of the country and the Southeast Asian region by 2030.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Currently, Da Nang does not yet have official cooperation relationships with Canadian localities. Ms. Thi expressed hope that Canada and the Ambassador will serve as a bridge to promote investment cooperation, green and smart urban transition, and urban management, while also encouraging Canadian businesses to explore investment opportunities in Da Nang.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">From November 2 to 7, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang, in collaboration with Vietjet Air and Sun Group, welcomed a famtrip delegation from Taiwan (China) to visit and survey the city's tourism products and services.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The delegation consisting of 21 representatives from Taiwanese travel companies, experienced numerous famous destinations such as Sun World Bà Nà Hills, Marble Mountains, and the Da Nang Museum, along with leisure and entertainment activities at Da Nang Mikazuki, Trình Café, Charming Show, and After Glow. The delegation also surveyed high-end hotel and resort systems such as Wyndham Danang Golden Bay, Novotel, Shilla Monogram, and Crowne Plaza, while savoring distinctive local cuisine.</p>

The center will also be connected to the ecosystem of innovation, digital technology, and sustainable finance; while serving as a controlled testing ground for new financial models, digital asset products, digital payments, and specialized trading platforms.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Dr. Urs Lustenberger stated that the working group had conducted a field survey of the proposed location for the IFC and related projects. He emphasized that important mechanisms need to be implemented promptly, including procedures for establishing enterprises, setting up the International Arbitration Center, and building a robust financial system. What international investors are most concerned about is transparency and equality between domestic and foreign investors. This can be ensured through an independent arbitration center with the participation of both domestic and international experts.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of November 17, MM Mega Market Vietnam Co., Ltd. inaugurated the MM Supercenter Đà Nẵng Shopping Center on Nguyen Sinh Sac Street, Hoa Khanh Ward. This is MM's first 'super center' model in Vietnam, with a total investment of 20 million USD, completed ahead of schedule.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The facility comprises three above-ground floors, bringing together nearly 50 domestic and international brands, combining a hypermarket, dining area, entertainment zone, and cinema, offering an "all-in-one" shopping and service experience. The project highlights a new commercial landmark for the Hoa Khanh area, contributing to socio-economic development and enhancing convenience for residents and visitors.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Vice Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi highly praised the efforts of the investor and suggested that the center continue to improve service quality, participate in social welfare, and support programs to stabilize the market. The city is committed to providing maximum support to ensure MM Supercenter operates efficiently, expands connections with local businesses, and develops a sustainable supply chain.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">According to Nguyen Duc Toan, CEO of MM Mega Market Vietnam, over 90% of products in the supermarket are of Vietnamese origin; the OCOP area and local specialties showcase more than 100 products. The center currently provides nearly 500 jobs. On the occasion of its opening, the company and its partners contributed VND 425 million to support people affected by natural disasters.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the afternoon of November 21, Hoa Vang commune welcomed the Bonghwa County (South Korea) delegation to discuss the labor cooperation program for 2026.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Bonghwa County Chief Park Hyun-Gook highly appreciated the results of the 2025 cooperation, particularly the quality of the 50 Hoa Vang (former) workers who were sent to South Korea, more than half of whom demonstrated strong skills and a high work ethic. He expressed confidence that the friendship between the two localities would continue to develop.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Chairman of Hoa Vang Commune People's Committee Le Phu Nguyen proposed expanding cooperation to areas such as agriculture, vocational training, investment promotion, and community tourism, while also expressing the hope of establishing a “Korean Village” of Bonghwa in Hoa Vang in the future.</p>
