City leaders and units paid respects to the President of the Lao National Assembly, Xaysomphone Phomvihane
To express condolences on the passing of Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, who passed away on August 8, 2026, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have decided to hold in mourning for Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane as the state funeral rites for 2 days, from August 10 to 11, 2026.
During the period, city leaders and various units paid respects and registered the condolence book at the Consulate General of the Lao PDR in Danang city.
In Danang city, governmental agencies, offices, and public places fly flags at half-mast and display mourning ribbons according to regulations; public entertainment and recreational activities are suspended.

The International East–West Economic Corridor Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair – Danang 2026
The opening ceremony of the International East–West Economic Corridor Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair – Danang 2026 (EWEC) is taking place from August 12 to 17 at the Danang Exhibition Center, open free of charge from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily. The fair features nearly 250 booths from 108 domestic and international enterprises, along with the participation of six provinces from southern central Laos and nine diplomatic agencies.
Danang hopes that the fair creates additional opportunities for cooperation, contract signing, and investment attraction. With the advantage of being the eastern endpoint of the EWEC, along with increasingly developed transportation, seaport, airport, and logistics infrastructure, the city aims to become a regional center for trade, services, logistics, and innovation.

Towards a logistics gateway connecting the Indian Ocean - Pacific
At the Danang International Logistics Forum 2026 with the theme "Danang: Gateway to Indian Ocean-Pacific Logistics - Connecting Trade, Investment, and Supply Chains" on the afternoon of August 13, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Thái Bình emphasized that Danang needs to develop logistics in a multi-modal direction, applying technology, providing integrated services, and creating a favorable investment environment.
With the orientation to promote digital transformation, air logistics, cooling, cross-border e-commerce logistics and agricultural logistics, Danang is determined to become a supply chain connection point in the Indian Ocean-Pacific, delivering goods from the Central region to international markets faster, farther, and more efficiently.

Upgrading the Kack Hyun Elderly Care Center
At the meeting with Ms. Lee YooKyung, Deputy Country Director of the KOICA Office in Vietnam, on the morning of August 11, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Nam Hưng highly appreciated the support of the Government of South Korea and KOICA for Danang, especially in education, healthcare, human resource development, and social welfare. Danang agreed to allocate 2.85 billion VND from the budget as corresponding funds to implement Phase 2 of the Kack Hyun Elderly Care Center Upgrade Project.
KOICA affirmed that it is continuing to accompany and coordinate the project implementation, aiming to enhance elderly care capacity. The center currently cares for 45 elderly individuals who are alone and without support. Phase 2 (2027-2029) will focus on upgrading the care model, training personnel, transferring expertise, techniques, and management experience.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand
At the meeting with Thai Consul General in Hồ Chí Minh City Wiraka Moodhitaporn on the afternoon of August 10, Deputy Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi requested support in facilitating Ubon Ratchathani to soon re-sign the friendship cooperation document with Danang, and to effectively implement cooperation with Khon Kaen; at the same time, she encouraged Thai businesses to invest in high technology, high-tech agriculture, clean energy, the digital economy, and supporting industries. The city also hopes to maintain the Bangkok - Danang flight route and enhance exchanges in education, scholarships, students, and experts.
Consul General Wiraka Moodhitaporn highly appreciated the city's development orientations, affirming that Thailand is ready to accompany and expand cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and education.
Within the framework of the Celebration, the international seminar "Danang - A Bridge for Cooperation and Development in Tourism, Trade and Investment between Vietnam and Thailand" brought together nearly 300 delegates, contributing to connecting management agencies, experts and businesses to resolve bottlenecks, mobilize resources and promote cooperative development in the fields of trade and investment between Danang, the Central - Central Highlands region, and Thai partners in the new phase.

Groundbreaking and inauguration of 4 projects in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone on the occasion of National Day, September 2
On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – 2026), Danang will organize the groundbreaking ceremony for 3 projects and the inauguration of 1 project in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in August 2026.
According to the plan, the Infrastructure Construction Investment Project of Tam Thăng Industrial Park Expansion 2 will commence in Thăng Trường commune on August 22.
On August 24, the Plastic beads Pet Chip and Fiber polyester factory will hold its inauguration ceremony at the Tam Thăng 2 Industrial Park, Thăng Trường commune.
On August 28, the Infrastructure Construction Investment Project of Tam Anh 1 Industrial Park will have its groundbreaking ceremony at Tam Anh Industrial Park, Tam Anh commune.
On August 29, the Rental Factory and the Wastewater Treatment, Technical Infrastructure phase 2 Factory under the Infrastructure Construction Investment Project of Nam Thăng Bình Industrial Park - Subdivision B will commence at Nam Thăng Bình Industrial Park, Thăng Trường and Thăng Điền communes.

Danang youth participating in volunteer activities in Lakhonpheng District, Salavan Province (Laos)
On August 11, the Danang Youth Union International Volunteer Delegation presented 200 gifts to local residents and 50 gifts to students facing difficulties in Lakhonpheng District, Salavan Province (Lao People's Democratic Republic). <p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On July 2, the delegation met with Sembcorp Industries, a major Singaporean group focused on energy and sustainable urban solutions. Sembcorp highly praised Da Nang’s investment environment and proposed that the city continue supporting the effective implementation of the VSIP Da Nang project, while exploring investment opportunities in digital infrastructure, particularly data centers. City leaders affirmed they would provide favorable conditions and accelerate procedures to get these projects underway soon.</p>

Attendees include officials from five South-Central Laotian provinces: Sekong, Salavan, Attapeu, Savannakhet, and Champasak. <p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the seminar titled "VIFC-DN: Building Institutions - Shaping Next-Generation Capital Flows" on the morning of June 30, Le Minh Nghia, Chairman of the Vietnam Financial Consultants Association (VFCA), emphasized that VIFC-DN is not only a key strategic project for Da Nang but also a crucial link in the nation’s overall development goals. An International Financial Center (IFC) and a free trade zone are vital tools for Da Nang to accelerate the attraction of indirect investment, international investment funds, carbon credit markets, and modern financial products. For Da Nang, the Government has set a target for the city to strive for a GRDP growth rate of 11% or higher in 2026.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The seminar consisted of two working sessions. The first session featured three in-depth presentations on the development direction of core products at VIFC-DN, superior institutional designs, and the role of regulatory sandboxes in fintech development.</p>

It supports research on mechanisms and policies for mobilizing investment capital for transportation infrastructure construction.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Each program will serve as a "touchpoint" for residents and visitors to help them deeply appreciate the natural beauty, culture, and people of Danang, thereby promoting the image of a dynamic, creative, friendly city rich in identity. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">A new feature of this year's festival is the series of themed experiential spaces, creating a continuous exploration journey from dawn to late night at East Sea Park, Mỹ Khê Beach, Mân Thái Beach, Sơn Trà Peninsula, and several other destinations within the city. <p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Danang has completed the administrative procedures system under the special mechanism for the Free Trade Zone (FTZ), including the addition of 34 administrative procedures related to import and export, and has assigned the Danang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Management Board (DSEZA) to issue Certificates of Origin (C/O), laying a foundation ready to put the FTZ into operation, and enhancing the effectiveness of investment attraction and international trade development. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">This group of procedures is particularly important, helping to complete the administrative procedure chain that serves investment, production, trade, and export activities in the Danang FTZ. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">To date, DSEZA has completed the entire administrative procedure system within its authority under the special mechanisms and policies for the Danang FTZ and is ready to implement it when the functional zones of the FTZ officially operate.</span></p>

<p align="center" style="text-align:center;line-height:30px"><b>Approval of investment policy for the VSIP Danang Industrial Park project nearly 250 hectares in scale</b></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">The Chairman of the City People's Committee approved the investment policy and simultaneously approved the investor to implement the project on Investment in Construction and Business of Infrastructure of VSIP Danang Industrial Park in Điện Bàn Bắc Ward. The project covers an area of 249.8 hectares with a total investment of VND 3,730 billion. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">According to the Decision, the investor implementing the project is Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited (VSIP). The project's objective is to invest in the construction and business of industrial park infrastructure, including management and operation activities. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">The project is expected to begin marketing and investment promotion activities from the third quarter of 2028.</span></p>
