Da Nang Supports Attapeu Province with 4.1 Billion VND for Infrastructure Development and Social Welfare
On the morning of May 12th, at a reception for Mr. Bounsert Setthirath, Vice Governor of Attapeu Province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), and his delegation visiting and working in Da Nang.
At the reception, Vice Governor Bounsert Setthirath expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for the sentiments, care, special support, and assistance of Da Nang city towards Attapeu Province in particular, and the southern Lao provinces in general, over the years.
Notably, in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2023 - 2027 between the two localities, in 2023 and 2024, Da Nang city provided scholarships for 50 officials and students from Attapeu Province to study at the University of Da Nang at the doctoral, master's, and undergraduate levels.
The Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee also announced that in 2025, Da Nang city plans to continue providing scholarships for 30 officials and students from Attapeu Province to study at the University of Da Nang at the doctoral, master's, and undergraduate levels for the 2025 - 2026 academic year; and to send 2 teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Language Center in Attapeu Province during the 2025 - 2026 academic year.
At the same time, the city will organize the reception and support for a delegation of 10 officials from the Department of Information - Culture and Tourism and a delegation of 10 officials from the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Attapeu Province to exchange and learn from experiences in Da Nang.
On this occasion, Da Nang city presented 3.6 billion VND in funding to support Attapeu Province in purchasing equipment to upgrade the Attapeu Provincial Radio and Television Station's broadcasting studio and provided 500 million VND in funding to Attapeu Province for social welfare activities.
Strengthening the Friendly Relations Between Vietnam and the Russian Federation
On the afternoon of May 12th, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi presided over a reception for Colonel Anciferov Alexey Vitalievich, Commander of the ship detachment of the Pacific Fleet, Russian Navy, who paid a courtesy visit to the city leaders.
At the reception, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi welcomed the commander, officers, and sailors of the ship detachment to visit Da Nang. She also extended congratulations to the officers, crew, and people of Russia on the occasion of Russia's commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945).
Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that this visit by the commander, officers, and sailors of the ship detachment contributes to strengthening the friendly, traditional, and mutually trusting relationship, and promotes the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
In the future, Da Nang is ready to act as a bridge, creating favorable conditions for the naval forces of both sides to continue expanding cooperation, training activities, and experience sharing to contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation, maritime security, and safety at sea.
Colonel Anciferov Alexey Vitalievich expressed his deep gratitude to the city leaders and departments for creating favorable conditions for the visit to proceed smoothly.
The Colonel shared that the commanders, officers, and sailors were very impressed by the development and beautiful scenery of Da Nang city.
European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam Explores Investment Opportunities in Da Nang
On the afternoon of May 12th, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi hosted a reception for the delegation of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, led by Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, Chairman of the Chamber.
Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi expressed her pleasure in welcoming the delegation to visit and work during a special occasion – as Da Nang city and Quang Nam province are preparing for their merger.
After merging with Quang Nam province, (the new) Da Nang city will become the centrally-governed city with the largest area in the country and the most populous urban area in the Central region.
"In particular, we will possess two airports along with a large seaport system, creating ideal conditions to develop into a logistics and international cargo transshipment center. At the same time, with a strong foundation of industrial and information technology infrastructure, Da Nang city is ready to become a high-tech, microchip-semiconductor, artificial intelligence (AI), supporting industry, automotive, electronics, etc. center," emphasized Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi.
Mr. Bruno Jaspaert stated that Da Nang is a target investment destination for the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam in the future. Therefore, Mr. Bruno Jaspaert expressed his hope that there will be more working sessions in Da Nang in the coming time to allow more private enterprises to come to the city to explore and cooperate in investment.
Over 900 stalls participated in the VietBuild International Exhibition in Da Nang 2025.
The VietBuild International Exhibition in Da Nang 2025 officially opened on the morning of May 14 with over 900 stalls from domestic and international companies, showcasing many new products, green technology, and environmentally friendly renewable energy. The exhibition was open until May 18, providing a comprehensive view of modern construction trends with products and services focused on smart homes, green cities, circular economy, and digital technology.
Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that 2025 was an important time to complete the city's development goals. With a GRDP increase of 11.36% in the first quarter, leading among the six centrally-controlled cities, VietBuild 2025 was an important occasion to promote potential, enhance investment cooperation, transfer technology, and contribute to integration and sustainable development.
