Portugal wins the Danang International Fireworks Festival 2026

With the theme “Connecting Horizons,” the Danang International Fireworks Festival 2026 (DIFF 2026) concluded with the victory going to Macedos Pirotecnia (Portugal), with a prize of 20,000 USD. Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd (China) won second place with a prize of 10,000 USD.

The organizers also awarded the “Creativity” prize to the Italian team; the Japanese team received the “Prospect” prize; the Da Nang - Vietnam team won the “Audience Favorite” prize. Each subsidiary prize is worth 5,000 USD.

Danang Economic - Finance – Technology Week 2026

At the opening ceremony of the Danang Week of Economics - Finance - Technology 2026 on the morning of July 7, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Văn Thắng affirmed that the event serves as a forum connecting policy, finance, technology, and investment, contributing to driving Vietnam's new development phase. Danang needs to continue improving mechanisms, enhancing implementation capacity, and attracting high-quality capital, technology, and talent.

At the Danang 2026 High-Level Policy Dialogue within the framework of the Week, Central Party Committee Member, Party Secretary, and Head of the city's National Assembly delegation Lê Ngọc Quang emphasized that Danang not only pursues high growth targets but also aims for quality growth, building a "global city" through governance capabilities, innovation, and international connectivity.

According to Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng, Danang hopes to work with the Central Government to pilot new development models for the country; contribute to institutional improvement, create new growth momentum, and potentially be replicated in many other localities.

At the conference, Danang city and its domestic and international partners signed 5 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and letters of intent to promote the development of the city's International Financial Center and innovation ecosystem.

Within the framework of the Week, events were held including: the High-Level Policy Dialogue Conference themed 'New Growth - Innovation - Global City,' the Vietnam Finance Forum 2026, the Workshop 'Promoting the Linkage of the Three Houses: State - University - Enterprise,' the Workshop 'Semiconductor and High Technology Danang 2026,' and a series of side activities.

Hosting Professor Paul Romer, Nobel Prize in Economics Laureate

On the afternoon of July 7, during a meeting with Professor Paul Romer, the American economist and Nobel Prize laureate in Economic Sciences in 2018, Central Committee Member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly delegation for the city Lê Ngọc Quang, expressed his gratitude for Professor Paul Romer's insights and suggestions regarding the development orientation of Danang. At the same time, he affirmed that the city would prioritize the development of sectors and industries with the potential to create numerous jobs, improve people's living standards, ensure social welfare, and build an economic ecosystem that harmonizes short-term, medium-term, and long-term objectives to lay a foundation for sustainable growth. 

Appreciating Danang's development orientation, Professor Paul Romer suggested that, in addition to attracting high-tech investments, the city needs to focus on industries that offer high economic returns and promote the "learning by doing" model. Danang's development strategy should harmoniously combine the advancement of high technology with the broad enhancement of labor productivity.

Danang promotes comprehensive cooperation with Japan

At the meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Ito Naoki, Secretary of the Danang Party Committee, Le Ngoc Quang, proposed that the Japanese side continue to support connections with localities, organizations, and businesses, while introducing investors interested in the fields of semiconductors, artificial intelligence, high technology, logistics, finance, and environmental technology in Danang.

Danang also wishes to strengthen cooperation with Japanese partners in urban planning, infrastructure development, smart cities, digital transformation, green transition, healthcare, and high-quality human resource training. The city affirmed its support for the policy of expanding Japanese language instruction at Lê Thánh Tông High School for the Gifted.

Ambassador Ito Naoki highly appreciated the investment environment and development achievements of Danang and affirmed that he will continue to promote cooperation between Japan and the city in the fields of investment, trade, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.

Strengthening connections and expanding cooperation between Danang and Chinese partners

At the courtesy meeting with Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Hà Vĩ, Secretary of the Danang Party Committee Lê Ngọc Quang requested the Chinese Embassy to continue supporting the connection of Chinese investors and enterprises in exploring cooperation opportunities in Danang, particularly in the fields of semiconductor microchips, artificial intelligence, finance, logistics, high technology, and the medicinal industry. Danang wishes to strengthen the exchange of experiences with Chinese localities in developing free trade zones, logistics, seaports, cross-border e-commerce, and financial services; as well as support the restoration of direct flights and promote tourism between the two sides. 

Ambassador Hà Vĩ highly appreciated Danang's development achievements and affirmed that he would continue to support the connection of investors, enterprises, and Chinese localities with similar development orientations to promote cooperation with the city.

Promoting cooperation with Sakai city (Japan) in multiple fields 

At the meeting and working session with Sakai City Mayor (Japan) Nagafuji Hideki on the afternoon of July 8, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Danang People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng stated that in the coming time, Danang wishes to continue coordinating with Sakai to effectively implement the agreed upon cooperation contents. The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested that Mayor Nagafuji continue to focus on and promote cooperation programs between the two localities, while also encouraging Sakai businesses to explore and expand investment in Danang.

Sakai City Mayor Nagafuji Hideki stated that he will actively promote the image of the city in Japan and develop specific plans to realize cooperation projects, especially in areas of mutual interest such as developing a carbon-neutral city, cultural and artistic exchanges, and people-to-people diplomacy.

Vietnam - Japan Festival Danang 2026 

On the evening of July 9, at East Sea Park (An Hải Ward), the Vietnam - Japan Festival Danang City 2026 officially commenced.

This year's festival brings a unique cultural, commercial, and tourism space with nearly 100 booths along with many attractive art programs and experiences. Highlights include activities such as the joint performance of Japanese Judo and Vietnamese Vovinam, the Earthing Marathon race, the Vietnam - Japan friendly football exchange, and an interaction program with two Japanese Olympic Judo athletes, Nakamura Misato and Tachimoto Megumi.

 

Within the framework of the Festival, the conference "Meeting Japan in Danang: Comprehensive Strategic Partnership - Towards a Sustainable Future" was held.

At the conference, the Danang People's Committee and Kinokawa City signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote friendship and cooperation; the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Takara Joint Stock Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism.

 

Previously, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi presided over the reception and working session with the working delegation from Kinokawa City, Wakayama Prefecture (Japan), led by Mayor Kishimoto Takeshi, on the occasion of the delegation's visit and work in Danang City and participation in the Danang Vietnam - Japan Festival 2026. 

The Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee expressed the hope that both sides would continue to expand exchanges of experience in the field of high-tech agriculture, promote people-to-people exchanges, and cooperate in education and culture. At the same time, they aim to strengthen connections between agencies, businesses, and educational institutions in order to concretize the agreed cooperation contents; coordinate support for the preservation and promotion of the value of the Oga ancient lotus breed, a symbol of friendship between the two localities.

Danang and the United Kingdom expand cooperation in a new phase

At the meeting with Ms. Alexandra Smith, Consul General of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Hồ Chí Minh City, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Trần Nam Hưng expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with UK partners in the construction of Liên Chiểu Port following a green port model, technology transfer, human resource training, and the development of a digital port management system.

Danang also wishes to gain more experience in urban railway development, urban development models oriented towards public transportation (TOD); simultaneously, it requests support in connecting with investment funds, developing green finance and digital finance, and enhancing the linkage for training high-quality human resources with reputable universities in the United Kingdom.

Ms. Alexandra Smith highly values the growth rate and development orientation of Danang and affirms that the United Kingdom will continue to share experiences, provide support, and expand cooperation with the city in infrastructure development, financial centers, and education, contributing to promoting increasingly effective and sustainable cooperation between the two sides.

India supports over 1.4 million USD to build an Information Center at the Mỹ Sơn World Cultural Heritage site 

During the working session with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam, Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa, regarding the Information Center project at the Mỹ Sơn World Cultural Heritage site, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi expressed gratitude to the Government of India, the Indian Embassy, and the Archaeological Survey of India for their support in the conservation and restoration of the Mỹ Sơn temple complex over the past years. 

Danang has agreed in principle to accept a non-refundable aid of approximately 120.6 million Rupees (equivalent to 1.44 million USD) to build the Mỹ Sơn World Cultural Heritage Information Center.

Danang promotes cooperation with experts from Cambridge University 

At the working session between Vice Chairman of the Danang City People's Committee Hồ Quang Bửu and the delegation of experts from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) on the afternoon of July 6, both sides agreed to promote cooperation in high-quality human resource training, artificial intelligence (AI) development, innovation, technology investment attraction, and smart city development.

Danang City hopes the University of Cambridge will support the development of specialized training programs, connect international experts, promote academic exchanges, and transfer modern management experience in order to develop high-quality human resources.

Proposal to invest in a specialized eye hospital in Danang

At the working session with the leadership of Danang City, representatives of the Vietnam – Russia International Eye Institute Joint Stock Company proposed investing in an eye hospital project in Danang to provide high-quality medical services, meeting the needs for eye care and treatment for the residents of the city and the Central region. 

Appreciating this proposal, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi stated that Danang is developing its healthcare sector in a modern and specialized direction, aiming to become a major medical center of the region and the country. The city will accompany and facilitate the enterprise in researching and implementing the project in accordance with the provisions of the law.
