On 2 March 2017, the First APEC Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM 1) took place in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province. Some 200 delegates, including Senior Officials from 21 member economies as well as representatives from the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) participated in the meeting

28 February 2017, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam - SOM 1 and Related Meetings continued day 11 with meetings from APEC committees and fora, namely Trade and Investment (CTI), Economic (EC), Economic and Technical Cooperation (SCE) and Internet Economy (AHSGIE).

27 February 2017, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam - SOM 1 and Related Meetings entered Day 10 with 7 meetings from APEC committees and working groups, namely Trade and Investment (CTI), Economic (EC), Economic and Technical Cooperation (SCE), Budget and Management (BMC), Food Security (PPFS), Ocean and Fisheries (OFWG) and Ad Hoc Steering Group on the Internet Economy (AHSGIE).

26 February 2017, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam - The ninth day of SOM 1 and Related Meetings consists of 2 plenary meetings from Committee of Trade and Investment and Budget Management Committee and 6 activities from other APEC committee and fora, namely Economic Committee (EC), Food Security (PPFS), Ocean and Fisheries (OFWG), Competition Policy and Law (CPLG), Friends of the Chair (FotC) on the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP) and Trade Facilitation.

25 February 2017, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam - Today saw 9 meetings from APEC committees and groups, namely Trade and Investment (CTI), Economic (EC), Food Security (PPFS), Ocean and Fishery (OFWG), Tourism (TWG), Electronic Commerce (ECSG), Alliance for Supply Chain Connectivity (A2C2), Competition Policy and Law (CPLG), and Market Access (MAG).

23 February 2017, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam – With a total of 430 participants attending eleven activities in eight APEC fora, including the Committee of Trade and Investment (CTI), Tourism Working Group (TWG), Group on Services (GOS),  Health Working Group (HWG), Investment Working Group (IEG), Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures (SCCP), Competition Policy and Law Group (CPLG), and Electronic Commerce Steering Group (ECSG), today is one of the most active days of SOM 1 and Related Meetings.

It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to Ha Noi and to join us at this Symposium on the priorities for APEC 2017.  It was right here in this National Convention Centre - 10 years ago - Viet Nam hosted the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in November 2006.

I am delighted to see many familiar faces from member economies, the business community and international institutions.  I wish to thank you all for your ongoing support and cooperation.

The symposium on priorities for APEC 2017 took place at the National Convention Centre in Ha Noi on 8 December.  H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of APEC 2017 National Committee delivered a keynote address at the event.

Hosting APEC 2017 is a top priority in Viet Nam’s foreign policy agenda, as it aspires to make greater contribution to an ever thriving Asia-Pacific region.  After more than 30 years of reform and extensive regional and international integration, Viet Nam today is a highly open and dynamic economy, projected to become one of the ten fastest growing economies in the world.
