Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Destroyer Asahi pays a friendly visit to Da Nang Port
The Destroyer Asahi of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, led by Captain Jio Takemasa – Commander of Escort Division 2 – along with approximately 220 officers and sailors, is paying a friendly visit to Da Nang city from April 2 to 5.
At Tien Sa Port, a formal welcoming ceremony took place with the participation of representatives from central and local agencies, such as the Naval Region 3 Command, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and related units. The visit is a meaningful defense diplomacy activity, contributing to the consolidation of the Vietnam – Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Within the framework of the visit, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong held a courtesy reception for the delegation to strengthen cooperative relations and exchanges between the two sides.
During the reception, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized the important role in enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the naval forces of the two countries. At the same time, he affirmed that Da Nang is always ready to act as a bridge to promote cooperation between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, especially in the fields of training, professional exchange, and experience sharing.
City leaders also expressed their desire to continue expanding cooperative relations between Da Nang and Japanese localities and enterprises in the coming time.
Captain Jio Takemasa thanked the city leaders for the solemn reception and affirmed that this visit contributes to strengthening defense cooperation and deepening the friendly relationship between the two countries.
During their stay in Da Nang, the delegation will participate in sports exchange activities, professional exchanges with Naval Region 3, visit scenic landscapes, and learn about local culture.
