Promoting Comprehensive Cooperation with Genoa City (Italy) in Marine Economy and Education
On June 16 (local time), a delegation from Da Nang City led by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh worked with the Mayor of Genoa City (Italy), Silvia Salis, to promote cooperation in the fields of marine economy, logistics, education, urban planning, and digital transformation. The two sides agreed to develop specific action programs to effectively implement the signed cooperation agreements.
Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh requested Genoa City to share its experiences in seaport development, logistics, land reclamation technology, and marine sports, while also promoting cooperation between the University of Genoa and the University of Da Nang in training and scientific research.
Mayor Silvia Salis proposed strengthening digital transformation, cultural and sports exchanges, and business connectivity between the two localities. Rector of the University of Genoa Federico Delfino affirmed that the university would step up training cooperation in the fields of maritime, circular economy, and green economy.
On the same day, the delegation attended the Genoa - Da Nang Conference: The Journey from Italy to Central Vietnam. The conference contributed to promoting cooperation in investment, tourism, education, and innovation based on the Memorandum of Understanding establishing friendly relations and cooperation between Da Nang and Genoa signed in January 2025.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Phuong Anh proposed developing cooperative relations based on three pillars: marine economy - logistics - smart cities; tourism - culture; and education, research, and innovation. Da Nang City proposed boosting cultural exchanges, developing two-way tourism, and cooperating in high-quality human resource training.

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the seminar titled "VIFC-DN: Building Institutions - Shaping Next-Generation Capital Flows" on the morning of June 30, Le Minh Nghia, Chairman of the Vietnam Financial Consultants Association (VFCA), emphasized that VIFC-DN is not only a key strategic project for Da Nang but also a crucial link in the nation’s overall development goals. An International Financial Center (IFC) and a free trade zone are vital tools for Da Nang to accelerate the attraction of indirect investment, international investment funds, carbon credit markets, and modern financial products. For Da Nang, the Government has set a target for the city to strive for a GRDP growth rate of 11% or higher in 2026.</p>

<p style="margin-top:13px; text-align:justify;line-height:30px">On the afternoon of July 14, the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, in coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Chile in Vietnam, held a celebration and reception to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Chile diplomatic relations (1971–2026).</p>
<p style="margin-top:13px; text-align:justify;line-height:30px">Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi stated that Da Nang hopes the Chilean Embassy, trade promotion agencies, and the business community will continue to act as bridges to promote friendly relations and cooperation between Da Nang and Chilean localities and partners, matching the potential and strengths of both sides.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The content of the Memorandum of Understanding focuses on the planning and development of urban railway networks, expressways; airport projects, smart parking lots, and technical infrastructure works. It supports research on mechanisms and policies for mobilizing investment capital for transportation infrastructure construction.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Both parties will strengthen cooperation and share information in researching investment cooperation opportunities for developing infrastructure, especially key projects, based on compliance with current Vietnamese laws and leveraging the experiences of Pacific Construction Group.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng emphasized that the investment in Sun Galaxy Complex holds special significance, not only serving the Danang International Fireworks Festival but also creating a modern cultural and entertainment space; supplementing new tourism products, promoting the night-time economy, extending tourists' length of stay, and increasing their spending. In the longer term, the project will contribute to forming a new development hub along the Hàn River, connecting cultural, commercial, service, and tourism spaces, positioning Danang as a destination for international-level events and festivals.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">The Sun Galaxy Complex project – an international-scale festival, event, cultural, and entertainment complex – is being developed on an area of more than 210,000 m², located in the central area of the Danang Downtown mega urban area. The core of the project is an outdoor stage and grandstand with nearly 20,000 seats, directly facing the Hàn River and the fireworks display area.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:11px;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">Within the overall project, a 47-story commercial and service building (approximately 183m) will integrate a hotel system, serviced apartments, a shopping center, restaurants, a ballroom, and high-end amenities. Among these, the accommodation ecosystem is expected to be managed by Accor, offering the experience of enjoying fireworks directly from the place of stay.</span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">This group of procedures is particularly important, helping to complete the administrative procedure chain that serves investment, production, trade, and export activities in the Danang FTZ. </span></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">The Chairman of the City People's Committee approved the investment policy and simultaneously approved the investor to implement the project on Investment in Construction and Business of Infrastructure of VSIP Danang Industrial Park in Điện Bàn Bắc Ward. The project covers an area of 249.8 hectares with a total investment of VND 3,730 billion. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;line-height:30px"><span style="text-justify:inter-ideograph">According to the Decision, the investor implementing the project is Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited (VSIP). The project's objective is to invest in the construction and business of industrial park infrastructure, including management and operation activities. </span></p>
