Closing and Awards Ceremony of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV)

On the evening of July 4, the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2026 (DANAFF IV) officially came to a close.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA), noted that over its four editions, DANAFF has steadily solidified its reputation as a prestigious cinematic hub in the region, connecting Vietnamese, Asian, and global cinema. The success of DANAFF IV further highlights Da Nang's role as an attractive destination for culture and film, while helping Vietnamese cinema integrate deeply into the regional and international arena.

With a jury consisting of prominent Vietnamese and international film experts and filmmakers, many major awards were presented to outstanding works and individuals across various categories.

In the Vietnamese Film Competition category: Best Film: "Tử chiến trên không" (Air Firefight), directed by Ham Tran; Special Jury Prize: "Truy tìm long diên hương" (The Search for Ambergris).

In the Asian Film Competition category: Best Film: "Full Plate" (India); Special Jury Prize: "Numb" (Japan).

For the Critics' Choice Award for Best Asian Film in the "Asian Film Panorama" program - a category showcasing exceptional Asian films that have achieved success at international festivals or are making their debut at DANAFF, the top honor went to "Khi trái cọ rơi" (When the Palm Leaves Fall) by director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon (Bangladesh).

Da Nang Leaders meet with Top Singaporean Corporations

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, led a delegation to work with leading Singaporean corporations specializing in industrial infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and logistics.

On July 2, the delegation met with Sembcorp Industries, a major Singaporean group focused on energy and sustainable urban solutions. Sembcorp highly praised Da Nang’s investment environment and proposed that the city continue supporting the effective implementation of the VSIP Da Nang project, while exploring investment opportunities in digital infrastructure, particularly data centers. City leaders affirmed they would provide favorable conditions and accelerate procedures to get these projects underway soon.

On July 3, the delegation worked with YCH Group and toured its Supply Chain City model. The two sides discussed collaboration strategies for logistics development and the operation of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone according to international standards. They also witnessed the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between YCH, SDN Company, and relevant partners.

Intermediate Political Theory Course opens for officials from South-Central Laotian Provinces

On the morning of June 29, the Municipal Party Committee, in coordination with the Municipal Political School, held the opening ceremony for the 2026 Intermediate Political Theory Course tailored for officials from the South-Central provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The course is organized as a full-time, centralized program. Attendees include officials from five South-Central Laotian provinces: Sekong, Salavan, Attapeu, Savannakhet, and Champasak. Throughout the program, trainees will be equipped with core knowledge of political theory, state management skills, and Party building, while sharing practical experiences from their respective local governance duties.

Promoting Investment Cooperation with the Philippines Across Multiple Sectors

During a reception on the morning of June 29 for His Excellency Francis Noel R. Fernandez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Vietnam, Standing Vice Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh highly appreciated the role of the Philippines in ASEAN. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the Ambassador would continue to connect Philippine localities and businesses to explore investment and business opportunities in Da Nang.

Da Nang expects to attract high-quality human resources from the Philippines to serve the fields of logistics, high technology, the Free Trade Zone, and the International Financial Center. At a meeting with the French Ambassador to Vietnam, Olivier Brochet, on the morning of June 29, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh highly appreciated the support of the French Government, Embassy, local authorities, businesses, and organizations for Da Nang. He also acknowledged the Ambassador’s contributions to promoting cooperation in green infrastructure, education, culture, and international finance. The city hopes that the Ambassador will continue to serve as a bridge to expand cooperation between Da Nang and French partners.

Grand Opening of AEON Mall Da Nang Thanh Khe

On the morning of July 3, AEON Vietnam officially inaugurated AEON Mall Da Nang Thanh Khe.

This is AEON Vietnam's fifth General Merchandise Store and Supermarket (Compact GMS/SSM). Spanning an area of over 3,100 m², it operates daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The mall provides a wide variety of Japanese-standard products and services, integrating shopping, dining, and digital utilities, and is expected to become a go-to destination for locals and tourists alike.

Da Nang strengthens multi-sector cooperation with Thailand

Building Institutions and Shaping Next-Generation Capital Flows for the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang (VIFC-DN)

At the seminar titled "VIFC-DN: Building Institutions - Shaping Next-Generation Capital Flows" on the morning of June 30, Le Minh Nghia, Chairman of the Vietnam Financial Consultants Association (VFCA), emphasized that VIFC-DN is not only a key strategic project for Da Nang but also a crucial link in the nation’s overall development goals. An International Financial Center (IFC) and a free trade zone are vital tools for Da Nang to accelerate the attraction of indirect investment, international investment funds, carbon credit markets, and modern financial products. For Da Nang, the Government has set a target for the city to strive for a GRDP growth rate of 11% or higher in 2026.

The seminar consisted of two working sessions. The first session featured three in-depth presentations on the development direction of core products at VIFC-DN, superior institutional designs, and the role of regulatory sandboxes in fintech development.

The second session was a roundtable discussion featuring a large gathering of leading domestic economists, legal experts, and financial technology professionals. They analyzed and debated three core areas: building institutions, shaping next-generation capital flows, and drafting specific policy recommendations.

VIFC-Da Nang Expands International Cooperation with France and India

As part of its international cooperation and investment promotion program, the executive board of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang (VIFC-DN) held working sessions with Paris EUROPLACE and Mirova (France), and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India's GIFT City (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City).
