Da Nang to participate in Viet Nam-Finland Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP) – Phase 2
The Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, recently met with the Ambassador of Finland to Viet Nam, Mr Kimmo Lahdevirta. He asked the Ambassador to instigate the exchange of high ranking delegations between Da Nang and Finland, and to encourage potential enterprises from Finland to visit and seek investments in Da Nang.

The city leader said that 2-way trade between Finland and Viet Nam, and Da Nang in particular, is still limited and has not matched the potential of the 2 countries, although they have had diplomatic ties for nearly 40 years.

Ambassador Kimmo agreed with Vice Chairman Khuong on the necessity to boost economic and commercial cooperation between Viet Nam and Finland.  He said that some hi-tech enterprises in Finland want to invest outside their country, and Viet Nam, especially Da Nang, is a potential partner.  He said he hoped that the upcoming assignment of an Honorary Consul of Finland in Da Nang would contribute to speeding up investment and trading cooperation between Da Nang and Finnish localities.

The Finland Ambassador also announced that Da Nang, one of the beneficiaries of the 1st phase of the Viet Nam-Finland Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP), has been selected to be involved in the 2nd phase of the programme, which will be implemented over the 2013 - 2016 period.  The IPP aims to improve and promote innovation in the production and trading aspects of Vietnamese businesses.
