Opening Ceremony of the Da Nang New Year Festival 2026
On the evening of December 30, at the East Bank Park of the Dragon Bridge, the Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 officially opened. This event marks the beginning of a vibrant series of cultural, artistic, tourism, and entertainment activities serving residents and tourists during the year-end season.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, along with representatives from various departments, sectors, businesses, and a large number of locals and visitors. During her speech, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that Da Nang views culture as its spiritual foundation and tourism as a spearhead economic sector. She stated that events and festivals act as a vital "boost" to increase destination attractiveness, stimulate consumption, and promote socio-economic development.
The Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 takes place over five days, from December 30, 2025, to January 3, 2026, featuring a diverse series of activities at various locations across the city. A highlight of the opening ceremony was the exceptional artistic performances featuring international artists from the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area along with a team of local artists and dancers. These performances combined modern sound, lighting, and stage effects to create a festive atmosphere bursting with emotion.
As part of the festival, on the evening of the same day, the "Cheer Fest – Connecting Joy" culinary space officially opened at the East Bank Park of the Dragon Bridge, becoming a major attraction for many residents and tourists. Taking place from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily throughout the festival, Cheer Fest offers a multi-dimensional experience with dozens of stalls featuring local, regional, and international cuisine, beverage areas, handicraft and souvenir shopping, and trending experiential activities.
Through this rich series of activities, the Da Nang New Year Festival 2026 aims to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the community. Furthermore, it contributes to affirming Da Nang's position as an attractive regional and international destination for events and festivals.

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee, Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi, assessed that Đà Nẵng's tourism in 2025 continues to experience positive growth, with a strong recovery in visitor numbers, the restoration and introduction of many international flights, and continuous improvements in service quality, contributing to promoting the image of a safe, friendly, and attractive destination.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The Smart City: Innovation and Experience 2025 ("International Symposium - Smart City: Innovations and Experiences") workshop takes place over 2 days (December 15 and 16, 2025), aiming to promote science and technology initiatives</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On the morning of December 16, the Center for Environment and Community Research (CECR) organized the launch ceremony for the project "Promoting the active participation of female scientists in climate change adaptation and community-based disaster risk management" and the debut of the Network of Women Scientists in STEM for Climate, Community Development, and Gender Equality (ViWISTEM4C) in Da Nang.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The project is funded by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) of the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam, aiming to build and develop a network of women scientists in STEM for climate, community development, and gender equality; strengthen the role and voice of female STEM scientists in climate response and disaster risk management; and enhance the response capacity of communities, especially women, through community-based disaster risk management models, as well as connect scientists - government - communities to jointly build disaster risk management solutions.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At the program, the Network of Women Scientists in STEM for Climate, Community Development, and Gender Equality (ViWISTEM4C) was officially launched with the participation of typical female scientists, marking the beginning of an interdisciplinary connection space where female scientists can share knowledge, support research, promote innovation, and accompany the community in responding to climate change.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">On December 11, the National Assembly passed a Resolution amending and supplementing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on piloting certain special mechanisms and policies for the development of Đà Nẵng City, which will take effect from December 12, 2025.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The National Assembly decided to pilot the establishment of the Đà Nẵng Free Trade Zone (FTZ) to attract investment, finance, trade, and high-quality human resources. The Prime Minister shall decide on the establishment of the FTZ; the City People’s Committee is authorized to adjust and expand its parameters following the procedures stipulated by the City People's Council. New investment projects in the fields of high technology, R&D, supporting industries, clean energy motor vehicles, aerospace–railway equipment, and logistics are subject to a 10% corporate income tax for 30 years, with a 4-year tax exemption and a 50% reduction for the following 9 years; other projects enjoy a 10% tax rate for 15 years, with a 4-year exemption and a 50% reduction for the subsequent 9 years.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">The FTZ applies to duty-free zone specifications; transshipped goods can be stored for a maximum of 90 days with the option to extend no more than two times, each time not exceeding 60 days. Foreign investors are allowed to own up to 49% of the equity, except for the air logistics center where ownership can reach 51%. The National Assembly also resolved to reduce personal income tax by 50% for 10 years for high-quality human resources, waive all land lease fees, and allow Đà Nẵng to retain 100% of the revenue from TOD land funds for investment in key infrastructure.</p>

Hải Vân Ward currently has about 120 workers who have previously participated in seasonal agricultural labor programs and possesses a rich labor force, suitable for expanding cooperation to enhance mutual understanding and open up new opportunities for collaboration based on friendship and shared development.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">At Đà Nẵng International Airport, flight VN157 from Hanoi carried the first three guests to 'ring in the New Year,' followed by a flight from Manila with five lucky passengers. Within the morning alone, approximately 1,200 tourists from seven countries (South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, etc.) landed, creating a lively atmosphere with the message 'Welcome to Đà Nẵng.'</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;;line-height:30px">Chu Lai Airport received the first two flights of the year, VJ1370 from Hồ Chí Minh City and VN1641 from Hanoi, with three lucky passengers receiving round-trip domestic tickets from Vietnam Airlines, local specialty gifts, and Đà Nẵng tourism experience vouchers.
