ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable 2025: Vietnam, a Top Choice

Held from July 2-4, the inaugural ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable Conference 2025, co-hosted by Duy Tan University and ASEAN-Korean partners, convened in Da Nang. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea Yong Ho Seong, and Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan.

The first ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable Conference in 2025 is a key activity within the framework of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Area (AKFTA) Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Initiative between the governments of ASEAN countries and South Korea. The event brought together policymakers, tourism businesses, experts, and representatives of international organizations from both regions, marking an important milestone in tourism cooperation between ASEAN and South Korea.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong stated that tourism cooperation between ASEAN and South Korea has seen clear developments recently. In 2024 alone, ASEAN welcomed nearly 127 million international visitors, with South Korea being one of the top three source markets, contributing approximately 10 million visitors.

"Notably, Vietnam is delighted to be the leading destination in the region chosen by South Korean tourists, with 4.6 million visitors. This is clear evidence of the comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship between Vietnam and South Korea, and it also shows the increasing trust, affection, and deep connection between the people of the two countries," said Deputy Minister Ho An Phong.

The conference aims to promote tourism cooperation between ASEAN countries and South Korea. The first ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable Conference 2025 takes place from July 2 to 4, focusing on four key areas: Enhancing security and facilitating tourism development; Improving tourism infrastructure systems to enhance tourist experience; Training human resources for the tourism industry; Promoting understanding of cultural diversity between ASEAN countries and South Korea.
