The National Assembly passed a resolution on special mechanisms and policies for the development of Đà Nẵng city

On December 11, the National Assembly passed a Resolution amending and supplementing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on piloting certain special mechanisms and policies for the development of Đà Nẵng City, which will take effect from December 12, 2025.

The National Assembly decided to pilot the establishment of the Đà Nẵng Free Trade Zone (FTZ) to attract investment, finance, trade, and high-quality human resources. The Prime Minister shall decide on the establishment of the FTZ; the City People’s Committee is authorized to adjust and expand its parameters following the procedures stipulated by the City People's Council. New investment projects in the fields of high technology, R&D, supporting industries, clean energy motor vehicles, aerospace–railway equipment, and logistics are subject to a 10% corporate income tax for 30 years, with a 4-year tax exemption and a 50% reduction for the following 9 years; other projects enjoy a 10% tax rate for 15 years, with a 4-year exemption and a 50% reduction for the subsequent 9 years.

The FTZ applies to duty-free zone specifications; transshipped goods can be stored for a maximum of 90 days with the option to extend no more than two times, each time not exceeding 60 days. Foreign investors are allowed to own up to 49% of the equity, except for the air logistics center where ownership can reach 51%. The National Assembly also resolved to reduce personal income tax by 50% for 10 years for high-quality human resources, waive all land lease fees, and allow Đà Nẵng to retain 100% of the revenue from TOD land funds for investment in key infrastructure.

The amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli and the cruiser USS Robert Smalls (United States) docked at Tien Sa port, beginning their visit to Đà Nẵng

On the evening of December 8 at Tiên Sa Port, Đà Nẵng held a welcoming ceremony for the United States Navy task force, including the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli and the cruiser USS Robert Smalls, comprising nearly 2,300 officers and sailors, led by Rear Admiral Thomas Shultz, Commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 7.

The delegation began its friendly visit to Đà Nẵng from December 8 to 11, 2025, against the backdrop of the two countries celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations and continuing to promote a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The U.S. Seventh Fleet, the forward-deployed principal force of the U.S. Navy in the Indo-Pacific, is responsible for maintaining a free and secure maritime environment, while the Commander of Task Force 76 oversees expeditionary operations and emergency response support in the region. The visit of the naval task force contributes to strengthening defense cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Expanding cooperation between Đà Nẵng and Yeongam County, Jeollanam Province (South Korea)

On the afternoon of December 9th, Vice Chairman of the Hồ Quang Bửu City People's Committee met with Mr. Woo Seung Hee, the District Head of Yeongam County, Jeollanam Province.

Emphasizing the orientation of completing infrastructure, improving service quality, and expanding international cooperation to promote sustainable development, both sides discussed the potential to broaden cooperation between Đà Nẵng and Yeongam County, particularly promoting the signing of a Friendship Agreement between Yeongam County and Hai Van Ward, seeing this as an important step for the next phase.

In addition, the Vice Chairman hoped to strengthen cultural exchanges, community connections, labor exchanges, agricultural cooperation, and implement activities that bring practical benefits to the people.

District Head Woo Seung Hee expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the city’s leadership and hoped that Yeongam's first official visit to Đà Nẵng would open up many new cooperation opportunities in tourism, maritime economy, agriculture, and sending labor abroad, based on the similarity of geographical conditions between the two localities.

Promoting cooperation on cultural heritage preservation between Đà Nẵng and Ukraine

On the morning of December 8, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Ukraine to Vietnam, Oleksandr Gaman, during his first visit and working trip to Đà Nẵng.

The Vice Chairwoman stated that Đà Nẵng not only focuses on its economy but is also a major cultural center in the region, featuring a representative system of museums and numerous architectural heritage sites, including the Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary and Hội An Ancient Town – both recognized as World Cultural Heritage sites.

Based on shared approaches in heritage preservation, the Vice Chairwoman expressed a desire for Đà Nẵng to have opportunities to cooperate with Ukrainian partners in the fields of conservation, restoration, and promotion of cultural heritage values in the future.

Ambassador Oleksandr Gaman highly appreciated the dynamic development of the city, while introducing Ukrainian cultural identity and sharing experiences in heritage preservation, particularly in the management and preservation of artifacts at national museums such as the Lviv National Museum.

Đà Nẵng New Year Festival 2026: A message of innovation, creativity, and integration

On the afternoon of December 9, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a press conference to announce the Đà Nẵng New Year Festival 2026.

Deputy Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi stated that in 2025, tourism continued to be a highlight with many large-scale events, and Đà Nẵng was recognized by AFAR magazine (USA) as a must-visit destination in 2026. The New Year Festival 2026 will be held from December 30, 2025, to January 3, 2026, featuring a series of diverse cultural, artistic, and tourism activities, thereby spreading the message of innovation, creativity, and the city’s spirit of integration.

The festival’s highlights include the “Đà Nẵng – Welcome 2026” Avenue on Bach Dang pedestrian street and the night run “Light Up the Han River – Run to the Future.” The city has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant units to ensure thorough preparations so that residents and visitors can have complete experience.

At the press conference, the film team of “Nhà mình đi thôi” also announced a project set to premiere for Tet 2026, aiming to showcase Đà Nẵng on the big screen in a fresh and impressive way.

Hải Vân Ward and Yeongam County (South Korea) promote cooperation in agriculture and seasonal labor

On the morning of December 10, the People’s Committee of Hai Van Ward held a working session with a delegation from Yeongam District (Jeollanam Province, South Korea) regarding cooperation in agriculture and the deployment of seasonal labor. Hải Vân Ward currently has about 120 workers who have previously participated in seasonal agricultural labor programs and possesses a rich labor force, suitable for expanding cooperation to enhance mutual understanding and open up new opportunities for collaboration based on friendship and shared development.

District Chief Kim Young Tai highly appreciated the contributions of Vietnamese workers in Yeongam, including those from Đà Nẵng, and noted that the two localities have many similarities that can help strengthen agricultural cooperation. Both parties agreed to proceed with signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the near future and to promote practical exchange activities.

On this occasion, the Yeongam delegation also visited the Cơ Tu cultural space in Hải Vân Ward, gaining a deeper understanding of local life, customs, and cultural values, thereby helping to strengthen connections and lay a foundation for long-term cooperation.

Opening of the Mega Sale Holiday 2025 - a branded goods promotion event in Đà Nẵng

On the morning of December 11, at Furama Resort International Conference Center, the Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Bigbang Luxury Goods Trading and Services Co., Ltd., inaugurated the Luxury Goods Promotion Festival – Mega Sale Holiday Đà Nẵng 2025.

The city expects that trade and services will continue to be the main driving force, contributing to achieving the socio-economic goals of 2025 and laying the foundation for growth in the coming years. Mega Sale Holiday Đà Nẵng 2025 is held from December 11 to 14, featuring 120 booths and more than 300 brands of fashion, cosmetics, accessories, sports, and consumer goods.

The festival returns on an expanded scale, not only focusing on promotions but also serving as a market connection point where brands introduce new products, providing residents and tourists with modern and professional shopping experience.

The rubber industry is estimated to reach 11.6 billion USD in export turnover in 2025

On the evening of December 12 in Đà Nẵng, the Việt Nam Rubber Association held the Việt Nam Rubber Industry International Conference 2025, combined with welcoming a delegation of foreign businesses to Việt Nam to explore and purchase products, with the participation of representatives from more than 80 domestic and international rubber enterprises.

Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Lê Hoàng Tài highly praised the efforts of the rubber industry in recent times for proactively implementing solutions to meet market demands, such as adopting sustainable forest certifications (FSC, PEFC, VRSC), improving the traceability system, and reducing emissions in processing and transportation. These measures help the industry enhance its competitiveness and better meet the technical, environmental, and social standards of the international market. Effectively leveraging the 17 free trade agreements currently in effect facilitates businesses in expanding their export markets.

The period from 2026 to 2030 is forecasted to bring many new opportunities, with growing demand in the Middle East, India, and Africa, along with the trend of

supply chain shifts. The Trade Promotion Agency is committed to continuing to support rubber enterprises in expanding markets, developing brands, and building green and sustainable supply chains.
